  1. Incredible, i have been playing with ESDE, Launchbox and Daijisho, before Launchbox and ESDE will either quit or restart after exiting a game with a combo keys (from retroarch), Daijisho seems to have a workaround by killing the process. Now with this latest beta only ESDE is struggling, i have tested Mame and Citra nightly and both seem to go back to Launchbox properly now :)

Can't install the newest beta release on any android device I have. On the update is now downloaded and ready to install screen, I hit ok and it just hangs there and doesn't respond. Using Retroid Pocket 2S and Odin2.

same on Nvidia Shield, it just stalls then kicks me back to main screen

  3. Feedback from Vita3K devs:

"I don't know all the specifics of it, but v8 introduced forwarders. I'm not sure if that functionality is exposed to frontends, though.
I feel like the best solution would simply be the devs coming here to talk...

LaunchBox for Android 1.9-beta-1 is out today with the following:

    • Fixed issues with launching the following emulators on Android 13: Skyline, M64Plus FZ, M64Plus FZ Pro

    • For other emulators that still need to be updated in order to work correctly launching games on Android 13, LaunchBox will now warn the user and just launch the emulator without a game instead (instead of erroring out)

We have two big new features that are in the works, but unfortunately they're not ready yet (and one of them is waiting on outside involvement). Stay tuned.

Also, we've tested and tried to fix Snes9x EX+, DraStic, GBC.emu, and PizzaBoy, but all of them are unfortunately broken on Android 13 and there's nothing we can do to fix it that we're aware of until the emulator developers release their own updates/fixes.

Having some problems with Launchbox and Nintendo Switch, 3 out of 5 it will reboot Launchbox, on Nvidia Shield, i don't have this problem with Skyline, basically launch a game it loads via skyline then after a bit it will reboot launchbox

is there a chance it's because you don't have the option selected to import duplicate roms? the importer might see them as all the same game since they all have the same name. Other thing it could be is that since they have the same name the importer may have consolidated them all into one game during import, but only if you had that checkbox checked during import.

That did it, thanks for the quick reply!

  6. Hey Guys,

Not sure if this is beta related or launchbox in general, but i thought i mentioned that i am having problems importing several PS3 titles. Let me explain, most of my PS3 roms are in the rpcs3/dev_hdd0/(game or disc) then eboot.bin.

So i added all the eboot.bin in the dev_hdd0 folder, the importer did see all the files but after processing it only processed one rom. even though the dialog box did confirm there are several eboot.bin in separate directories. So my question was this ignored because it is the same file found in several folders or do i have to import one rom at a time, i have over 500 roms :)

    I hope it's clear, thanks!

  7. FYI, the latest Dolphin released on Nvidia Shield finally supports scoped storage, which means my roms on the network should be able to launch, the only issue is i have to launch them twice or three times, the first time i only get the dolphin logo then kicks me back to launchbox the second time the game runs fine!

Okay, it's clearly an issue with using network storage then. We're already having to use a hack be able to launch games in PPSSPP because they didn't quite implement the storage access framework properly. So unfortunately I don't think there's anything we can do to fix that, at least until PPSSPP changes their launching engine.

No problem, at least we know it's not a launchbox issue :) i will switch to Retroarch core until it's solved on their side

    Thanks,

@oyehia I just updated both PPSSPP and PPSSPP Gold and both are working just fine for me launching games. You do have to make sure thought that you add your ROMs folder inside of PPSSPP before you're able to launch games. Let me know if it's still not working for you.

Edit: Is anyone else unable to launch games with PPSSPP?

All my games are correctly loaded in PPSSPP, but as soon as i launch them through launchbox i get an error that the file does not exist, remember my roms are on a network drive, not external storage

    Thanks,

P.S: if i change the emulator to Retroarch with the PPSSPP core it works fine, so something to do with the standalone emulator

I think I know why this is, but it might take me a while to resolve, since I have to set up a testing scenario for it.

Just tried the latest PPSSPP released which supports scoped storage, the game works fine from it but not from Launchbox so it could be related...

  11. Also a problem with PS2 if roms are on a network drive, AetherSX 2 will launch them without any problems but i get an error in Launchbox that it cannot find the rom note that the games have already been scanned by AetherSX2 as suggested, this is on Nvidia Shield with the latest alpha of AetherSX2

    Thanks,

We are planning on tackling alpha-numeric navigation here soon. The Last Played section is limited to 100 games.

There is a known issue with extracting files that are too large. It is not recommended currently to use compressed disc image files that need extracted on startup. Small ROMs will work fine, but larger ones will not currently.

Ah ok, thanks for the info!

  13. Problem with "extracting files" on Nividia Shield tested with several roms (PSP, 3DS, Gamecube, etc). My roms are sitting on a network drive, and they are compressed in .zip or .7zip when checking the option "extract files" it is very slow and sometimes hang, this does not occur with another frontend, so something is bugging the "extract files" procedure. In order to reproduce have a compressed rom on a network drive, it just hangs or takes minutes to extract. Gamecube or 3Ds are usually the buggy ones, PSP works after several minutes of waiting....

    Thanks,

P.S: Note the green bar is just frozen in the picture...

It does not fix your issue, no. So yes, I still need the details and log file. :)

Ok i have attached the logs and also noticed in the extracted folder i see a lot of scrambled named folders with no files in them, the ones for .3ds are fine though, however i also noticed this error in one of the logs

The way it happens, you choose a rom, it shows the extract screen, then you wait a bit until the file is transferred from the network over to the shield then the extraction animation starts but then you get kicked out of launchbox, or if it works it goes back to the rom instead of launching it, then you have to click on the rom again to play it

Beta 9 is out now with fixes for all known missing pieces and remaining issues with the game metadata and media editing. The only thing we haven't added yet is a way to choose a particular image from the games database to download, if there are more than one. I'm thinking we'll probably put that off for a future release.

Thanks guys for all your help testing these betas.

Does this fix the issue i mentioned or you still need my log file?

LaunchBox for Android 1.1-beta-8 is out now with the following:

    • Full game editing is now available by long-pressing a game and selecting Edit Metadata or Edit Media

    • Fixing incorrect matches to the LaunchBox Games Database is now possible by selecting the Search LaunchBox Games Database option in the Edit Metadata screen

However, there are currently some minor caveats/known issues with the game editing:

    • Additional versions can't be edited yet
    • After being edited, the games lists and platforms lists don't yet update with the new data until you back out and reload them
    • Controller navigation for editing the Notes and Release Date fields needs some improvement
    • We still need an interface for selecting a particular image to download from the LaunchBox Games Database when there are multiple options available

So i have been fiddling around with the nightly build of Dolphin (which supports scoped storage) and this build, all of my roms are compressed, so when i choose the option to extract rom before playing, some games do extract, and go back then you have to click on the rom again to play them, but others just kick me out from Launchbox, not sure if i am the only one experiencing this. I have tried 5 games so far, only 2 or 3 worked the rest just kicks me out after the extracting screen. Note that all my roms are on a network drive as mentioned in previous threads. I have tried the same roms on Launchbox for PC and they all seem to work, so it's not the roms, something to do with the extracting i guess on the Android side

Thanks guys for the heads-up on the RetroArch changes. I had been looking for a workaround for the Nvidia bugs, and the recent RetroArch commits clued me in.

Version 1.1-beta-1 is out now, and you can now access network drives on Nvidia Shield devices with the latest firmware upgrades (but I believe you do still need the latest Nvidia hotfixes).

For more details on the Nvidia firmware situation, please see this thread:

    https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/65300-issues-with-the-latest-firmware-on-nvidia-shield-tv-devices-how-to-fix/

Awesome, it works!! Finally thanks Jason :)
