Thanks guys, that worked, there was a setting to force pause screen activation. Checking this box has made it work 👍

Thanks Neil, Where are these setting found? I see only basic on/of settings in Bigbox/options/Game pause.

Pause screen is not showing up in mame only, When I press pause, the game pauses and is still showing the paused state of the game (no pause menu). however the strange part, when I press up/down on my controller I can hear it cycling through the menu options, I can even select reset by pressing down 4 times and pressing select, the game resets. It’s almost like the pause screen doesn’t have permission to be on top. In retroarch it works fine, I can see the menu and all works well. anyone seen this before?
