LaunchBox doesn't care what's inside the zip file for MAME ROMs. That's between you and MAME.
On the screen one or a couple before that last one in the Wizard, check the box for Allow importing duplicates. Then see if that last screen changes.
If it shows, then yeah, it's in you collection somewhere.
Tested and working (one of several methods)
- Drag and drop carnevil.zip onto LaunchBox (this'll start the wizard)
- Selected ROM Files
- Platform = Arcade
- Emulator = MAME (if your emulator is different, this could be an issue)
- (for me I chose) Use the files in their current location
- search for metadata and images if you want
- no bezels for me
- Custom Options - nothing checked
- I unchecked Create Playlists
Plan "B": go to Tools < Import < Manually Add Game... (or press Ctrl+N)
Type in the games Title. In the Launching section, point the ROM File to you carnevil.zip. Under Emulation, make sure MAME is your emulator.
I've tried all these steps and no luck. I don't think the rom is already imported because I checked the audit list and CarnEvil isn't listed. I had this same issue importing Terminator 2 a while back. I was finally able to import it after searching for a different rom version of the game.

I can't seem to import CarnEvil into LaunchBox. Either LaunchBox isn't recognizing the rom or there are rom files missing inside the zip file. These are the rom files I've tried.
This is the result when I try to import the game into LaunchBox
I don't have the game already imported as I audited all my games and didn't see CarnEvil listed. I can play the game by opening MAME and launching it from there.

I haven't used the Sega Model 2 emulator in a very long time. Virtual Cop and Virtual Cop 2 were two of the reason I used it because they ran so smoothly on it unlike MAME. They haven't updated it in a while and people have just moved on from it.

It should import fine. The screens you see usually means it was already imported. Run through the import process again and check to box to "import duplicate". The game could be imported under another game (as an additional app/game) or if you have any of the "hide games missing" options check in LB it could be already imported but hidden. Either way try to reimport and check the "import duplicate" as mentioned.
This worked perfectly! Thank you.
I actually went to audit arcade and yes, it was duplicate roms added.

I wish they had this feature on MAME and Final Burn Neo.

I'm trying to import Terminator 2 the Arcade Game and its not importing. It gives me the "(0) games successfully imported" notification after the import process. I'm running the latest version of MAME 0.257 and this Terminator 2 rom is the updated 9 MB rom with the 0.257 rom pack. Is there something I'm doing wrong on my end? I have no issue running this game in MAME as a stand alone however, I would be nice to run it through Launchbox like all my other games. Also, on the "ready to import" screen during the import process it doesn't show my term2.zip file. Any help would be appreciated thank you.
Importing CarnEvil into Launchbox

I actually found a fix. I discovered that CarnEvil indeed was imported already but it just wasn't listed on the audit list. I re-imported my games all over again and LaunchBox recognized the game.
