[😢MAME 2.049 breaks input controls for Cruis n USA and World! 😢]

I am currently in the Crusin World Enter Key hell. 

I'm using a Rog Ally with emu deck.  I tried to avoid using Retroarch, but no such luck.

I went so far as to buy a mini bluetooth keyboard in hopes that I could just press F2 with it.  But no such luck. F2 was mapped automatically to some other feature which retroarch was listening to.  

However I could press TAB while the game was running which brought up the MAME options which was enough.  I'm not sure how to get to the MAME options without a keyboard.  I think if you can you can switch the emulator in Emulation Station.

But here is what I did:

• Enter the game. I assume we’re on the calibration / “press enter” screen
• press TAB on keyboard to bring up the Mame options (not retroarch)
• Go to Input Settings > Input Assignments (this system)
• Scroll down to “Enter” and re-assign it.  
• I assigned it to my keyboard and the letter O 
  • Also I surprisingly tripped over myself here assigning it and had to use the delete key to clear out bindings
• Go back to the game and you can use your controls to calibrate and press the now assigned key as “enter”
