Big Box moving on its own -- UltraStik 360 joysticks
AdamL replied to dragonkoh's topic in Troubleshooting
I've been having the same problem even when I have not had "Use All Controllers" selected. I have only one controller selected, and that is my Ultrastick 360. However, I've found a solution! Deselect "Use Controllers" so that Bigbox isn't looking or any controller input, then wire the Ultrastick 360 for digital operation by connecting from the 10-wire output pin to my IPAC so that it just looks like keys pressed. I still have it connected to USB, and it's still programmable--but BigBox ignores any controller input. -

Folks, I know this is BigBox and not Ultimarc, but I've found that whenever I have either (or both) of my Ultimarc 360 joysticks connected up, I get random Up/Down/Left/Right navigation in BigBox. And it happens with either controller, even though I only have one of them selected in Options -> Controllers and I do not have "Use All Controllers" selected. If I have the whole controller box disconnected, the random navigation does not happen, but it happens as soon as I have either one of them connected. (Note that I can have my IPAC connected, and the random navigation only happens if I also have one of the Ultimarc 360s connected. Any ideas?

If I go to Options -> Controller Mappings in BigBox and select an action to set (e.g. "Navigate Up", a window pops up that says "Awaiting Controller Input..." The problem is that it doesn't accept any controller input, so when I eventually hit back (ESC), the action is cleared. How do I fix this and get it to accept a controller input? I know that BigBox sees the controller (joystick) because "Navigate Down" is set to "D-Pad Down, Left Stick Down" and it does the navigation when the joystick is pressed down. But now, "Navigate Up" shows as "{None}". Also, why does it use "Left Stick Up" when the controller is actually labeled "Ultimarc Ultra-Stick Player 1"? Thanks!

Does anyone have a recommended controller mapping for LaunchBox? I’m looking at the X-Arcade mapping (see below) as an option, but changing Player 1 up/down/left/right to arrow keys and adding “Enter” somewhere as one of the keys.

Is it a MAME ROM? When I looked, "lair" doesn't exist. But "dlair" does. (Maybe 'lair' is an old ROM name???) It’s not a MAME rom. I’m trying to do this with Daphne roms for now, with the ability to do it with any roms in the future. How does LaunchBox know whether or not the rom name is part of the set? (I’m looking for a way to fool LaunchBox into thinking that it’s a valid rom name so it will import it under Arcade. As-is, I have to import all of the Daphne games as MS-DOS games.)

It did. I removed it, and it makes the path relative — so all is working now. Where does the %romlocation% get defined?
-
True. If I can get this working with the Emulator, I can import lots of games easily. For the manual process, I think I would have to do it separately for every Rom.

Is there a way to just add lair.zip to the list of roms that Launchbox will take? Thanks!

Thanks! How do I change the rompath?

I am trying to import Dragon's Lair (and the other Daphne games) into Launchbox, and it just doesn't want to work. Specifically, it comes to the end and shows that there are no files to import. I have a "Daphne" emulator configured, though it actually uses Hyperlaunch for launching the games. (I tried to get pure DaphneLauncher to work, but I couldn't get it to download whatever it was that it was trying to download. Getting Hyperlaunch to work is my preferred method here, as once I get it working it can be used for any of the other emulators that I have already working in Hyperspin.) Note that the problem here is that Launchbox won't load the roms. I can get Launchbox to work here using .bat files, but I don't want to have to write a new bat file for every rom. Here is what I am getting: Note that I tried the exact same thing with Badlands, and it loaded -- but in the process it replaced a different arcade game on my system called Badlands. My guess is that Launchbox is checking a database or spreadsheet somewhere and if it doesn't find the rom listed, it doesn't import it. Thanks for your help!

I have Launchbox working with MAME, but I want to move the whole MAME folder inside the Emulators folder. Is there an easy wa to do this (without breaking Launchbox)? I don't want to reinstall MAME because I've setup a bunch of Playlists that I don't want to have to redo. Thanks!

How do I import Daphne into Launchbox, complete with media? Daphne is not in the list of platforms. Thanks!

I imported all of my arcade roms together, but for some reason the original Space Invaders (invaders.zip) seems to have gotten missed. I tried to import it by itself, but at the end of the import wizard, Launchbox shows 0 files to import. My guess is that Launchbox thinks that it has already imported it, but if so I can't find it. Please help!

Awesome, thanks! Is there anything similar (to the Strategy Guide) for BigBox?

I started BigBox, but I can only barely navigate around using arrow keys and I can’t actually select or change anything. Also, the mouse is not showing. How can I navigate with the keyboard and mouse—or do I have to connect a gamepad?

Is there a Launchbox/Big Box wiki or other help documentation? I know there are YouTube tutorials, but it’s difficult to find the right one and then difficult to scroll through the video to find what you’re after—and then there usually isn’t the info or detail that you were looking for. Note that I tried to create an account, but I could t get past the “popular manufacturer of arcade consoles” security question. I tried Capcom, Taito, Sony, Microsoft, and Atari — but none of them worked. (Okay, it finally worked with “Sega” — otherwise, this post never would have happened.) Thanks!
