    Steam error "an item with the same key has already been added"

    Hi,

    I attempted to import newly installed steam games and got this error. Then I deleted my Steam category and reimported everything but the error still persist.

    Two of the games aren't imported and I get an error message that reads: an item with the same key has already been added.

    The 2 games are Battle Princess Madelyn and Stronghold Crusader Extreme HD.

    Using latest launchbox, Windows 10 Pro (up to date)

    Can anyone please help?

    It was in fact Arcade, I've now switched it to Capcom Play System by selecting all the games in the playlist, right click, Edit, and changing the Platform from there.

    Absolutely right! I've added Retroarch as a separate emulator, added Capcom Play System in the Associated Platforms and set it as default emulator for that platform.

    Now when I try to launch an alternate app I get an error saying The ROM file you've specified does not exist. Main game still loads fine with proper emulator (retroarch cps core).

    Hey, Jason! Thank you so much for your reply! The way I was able to do this was going into a playlist, selecting all the games in that playlist, right click, Edit, and then changed the default emulator from there. If that's not the proper way to go about things then how should I do it? Basically my objective is to import a full MAME set and then setting the proper emulators according to platform (like CPS, CPSII, Naomi, Atomiswave, NeoGeo, etc).

    I also tried editing the game, going to Additional Apps, then selecting the one I want to launch by default and clicking Make Default but it results in the game not launching when double clicked.

    For example, I have Alien VS Predator (CPS2). When I double click it the European version launches (avsp.zip), but when I try to load the American version by right clicking the game and selecting Play x Version... nothing happens. And when I change the default app by editing the game then the game won't load at all anymore when double clicked.

    Note: alternate apps worked flawlessly before changing the default emulator for CPS2 to retroarch's CPS2 core.

    Are alternate apps only supported when using MAME?

    I imported my arcade ROMs (merged 0.231) using the import MAME fullset option in Launchbox. Now I'm changing the default emulator for some playlists like CPS, CPS2 and so on. After changing the default emulator, alternate apps don't work anymore. I can launch the game as long as it's the default app, but launching alternate apps (like other regions or versions) doesn't work at all.

    Ok, so I am adding my arcade games by platforms to make things easy for me. So I imported Atomiswave and Naomi games without any issues, all of them imported fine and work with their corresponding emulators. Now I'm trying to import CPS1 games and of the 234 zipped games only 37 are added when trying to import. I've tried importing a folder and importing the files but both methods result in the same issue. Most of the games are missing. Particularly versions. Here's a walkthrough of the import process as I'm going through it, along with some screenshots:

    1. Tools, Import, ROM Files

    2. Select the files, or folder (same result either way)

    3. In the "What platform are you importing games for? Part I select CPS1 and then Scrape as Arcade.

    4. I select my CPS1 emulator (already configured), which is Retroarch (FBA CPS1 core)

    5. I don't move or copy files, just use them in their current location

    6. Download metadata? Yes, all images checked (Emumovies is not setup)

    7. In the custom options I select Force importing duplicate games and Look for PDF files for use as the game manual

    8. How would you like to import your MAME games? Import all clones and no skip options.

    9. In the ready for import only a few games show up. Notably, there are no localizations.

    Windows 10, fully updated. Latest LB (11.10).

    Feature Request: Playlists

    Laugh Nice! Sorry I hadn't discovered that feature yet. Total noob mistake. In fact, I think this is much better than playlists. I can get results similar to a SMART playlist (like in Apple programs), which IMHO is much better than manual playlists. And in combination with custom FIELDS I can see it becoming a very powerful tool. Great job and thanks for the reply! Now I'm -1 for playlists Laugh I am so happy you made Launchbox happen, honestly. I began using OpenEmu a few weeks ago on my Mac and is great for 8-16 bit stuff. But for my higher end emulation needs I go to my gaming PC which has to run Windows, sadly. I was begging to lose hope of getting a similar experience, I mean streamlined instead of individual emulators with no cataloging features whatsoever. So not only have I found a solution for Windows, but a much better one also! I am moving all my emulation library now to the PC thanks to Launchbox. I also hope Launchbox for Mac is coming along nicely, it would be great to use it there too! Maybe for cataloging other stuff. I'm not a programmer, but I have almost 10 years of experience supporting OS X systems so I'd be happy to help in any way I can if needed, at least with testing maybe.
