  1. That is amazing option, and I have been using it to import my TV shows, like for example I made Stargate Atlantis as main game, and than make episodes as additional apps, Like ep 1 s 1, ep 2 s 2, etc...  I have question, is there anyway to rename additional apps to call for example EPISODES, and if so how you can do that without affecting other games?  Thanks

It could be the theme itself isn't optimized, I remember I didn't see images in some view(s) with Futurestate. Have you tried with the default theme as well?

yeah i mean its fine, dont need to use cover flow I just want it to try, and before i looked more into that, I thought was Bib Box itself (new update or something), but now  i see its  just something wrong with those wheels, I will look more into that when i have time. I barely play games lately.

I'm guessing you just don't have any images for those games, or your image priority settings are messed up, or something of that nature. Open up LaunchBox if you can and check what images you have for those games, and then check your image priority settings for the various image groups.

I have box front and box back for those games set in launchbox, because if in different views i can see them, just those three wheels not showing it, those 3 vertical wheel views.

That's the point of the shortcut key; the view can use any of the image groups available in LaunchBox. You press the key to switch between them.

yeah I assigned key, and been pressing it, box where image supposed be placed is blinking every time I press hotkey,  so i can tell it refreshes but no image shows up. In launchbox under cover box setup i have set to box front and box back.

You probably don't have any images for the selected image type for those games. Go into keyboard bindings in the options and make sure you have a key or a button mapped to "Switch Image Type". Then you can press that key or button to switch between the image types to see what you might have images for.

yes i dont I have, but how should i know what image type i required for that view?

@Mile Panic Hmm, it seems to be happening in the CoverFlow views (I doubt the wheels would slow down if CoverFlow wasn't being used). One thing that's curious is that you don't have any images in CoverFlow. I wonder if we have a performance degradation problem if you use CoverFlow with no images. Since it doesn't really make any sense to use CoverFlow without any images, I wouldn't be surprised if that's just something we've never run into before. So I guess we have two things to test for:

    1. Does the performance degradation happen in the wheel views if you never use the CoverFlow views?
    2. If you populate images for those games, does the issue still exist in CoverFlow?

Hopefully that will help us to narrow it down. Thanks @Mile Panic.

Yeah I always used vertical wheel view so I never noticed before. Yesterday I was like I'm bored with this look lets try different wheels, and that's how I noticed. Also how to populate images in cover flow? because images are shown  in other views but not in this one, not sure why. Thanks

One thing you can try is to run BB under Windows Safe Mode. That way you can check if the AV or any other app/tool/service might be conflicting with it.

Dont you think every wheel will be affected that way, not just those two 3 wheel views?

@Mile Panic OK I tested that theme and the views you mentioned on 2 pcs. 1 Has pretty much same specs as you and the second is I7-7700 16GB Ram/GTX1060. Neither of the 2 showed any sluggish performance. At worst the I7 spiked to about 31% usage on view 2 and 3 but that was only on initial use. After that it settled and rarely got that high again. They both are pretty bare with only the necessary software to run LaunchBox and the emulators.

How many games do you have imported?

i have not more than 10 per platform, I think in total around 40

  9. Ok I tested everything again, and looks like problems are horizontal views 1,2 and 3 in futurestate theme, with every other view everything works fine, but as soon I switch to those views my cpu get used to 99%. Seem like horizontal view 3 is the worse totally freezes my machine.

  10. I have pretty beefy machine and I cant believe I experience so much slowness with Big Box, it looks like it gets better with certain wheel views but still. I'm using future state theme. I have around 40 games loaded not more than that. Mostly CPU get clogged, gets used constantly up to 99% by big box. I try some stuff that i see people recommending here, but with not much improvement. And there is some stuff that I'm not willing to do every time when i run big box, like killing bunch of process and turning off my antivirus or firewall, I'm using big box for looks but convenience as well,  and if I have to do all this stuff every time to improve performance than that's not convenient anymore, especially because I think my machine is more than capable to run it.

    My specs are:

MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 1151

Intel Core i7-8700 Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.6 GHz LGA 1151 300 Series 95W

    EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GAMING, 11G-P4-5390-KR, 11GB GDDR5X

    16 GB DDR4

Dunno, I use only non-payed lite version and don't have problems of that sort. It has these annoying update popups, but that's it, it seems.

I used to have really messed up problems years ago with Daemon Tools completely crashing my OS, mostly due to the image drive drivers breaking windows etc. Then I had this problem that after a Windows upload I couldn't deinstall Daemon Tools. It was hell to get out of that. But other than that, newer versions on WIn10 64 don't pose these problems anymore.

Glad you could figure out the DTCommandline.exe thing. Hope your batch files will work with it. :)

yeah they all work now, just have to updated them lol :) yeah i had to buy it for IDE drives because they are not available in free version.

Yeah you are right,  10.3 dont have it but now I installed latest version and it has it. I will play more with it and keep you updated.

    thanks for help!

OK I just bought option in DT lite that i need for $10 cad, and everything works now, just needed DTCommandline.exe, I'm just curios I ve heard lots of bad stuff about daemon tools fro malware and other sneaky issues, is that still a problem and it is only problem for pirated version or payed version has same issue as well?

    thanks

Ok, my version is 10.8. though, not 10.3. DTAgent command line options worked with 10.7. And with 10.8 now as I described. Maybe u just try to download the upgrade? DTCommandline.exe should appear then; I'd say.

Yeah you are right,  10.3 dont have it but now I installed latest version and it has it. I will play more with it and keep you updated.

    thanks for help!

@ Mile Panic: Ok, thanks a lot for the info. By now, I have exchanged all my launchbox settings for use with DTCommandline.exe manually, it took some time. But I'm still really angry about this unwanted change they coerce you into without telling you anything about it. All this I suppose just to press people into buying the pay versions of Daemon Tools. A lot of people will have to rewrite millions of batch files and frontend settings for this for no reason. Grrrr.

I don't use batch files for my auto-mount settings. I use additional apps within launchbox. What I do to make it work is already in my post. I repeat:

For automount I have to point add. app to DTCommandLine.exe, then add

    -M -l "E" -p "D:\GAMES\XXX\XXX.ccd"

    in the command line section.

-M is for mount, -l (small L) is for Letter of the Drive, "E" is the drive letter I wanted to use(has to be in quotation marks). -p is for path. And everything in q.marks after that is of course just the path to your CD/DVD image file.

For Unmounting I just use another additional app pointing to DTCommandline.exe and use

    -U

in the command line section (It's for unmount drives).

DTCommandLine.exe is a exe that's in your DTLite installation folder. I don't know if it was there in elder versions, but now it is the way to go. The info about the new command line options is in the DTLite help link I posted before. I hope this helps a bit if you want to set up batch files. You will just have to exchange all DTAgent references with DTCommandLine references and command lines, I guess.

Yeah man I hear ya! I was using daemon tools in conjunction with PCsX-R  for mounting disks trough the command line, and worked great for years. Now I upgraded to windows 10 and windows10 doesn't aloud old version of DT  to be installed so I had to get new version and all problems started.  Thanks a lot for the info, yeah I guess my problem is that there is no DTCommandline.exe in DT instalation folder, and I have version 10.3 of DT lite right now. Wish there was another good mounter on the market, but there is none for what I'm looking for. For some reason PCSX-r sapu cdr plugin only works with IDE drives, and as far as I know only Daemon tools supports it. Other thing is command lines, cant find command line switches for other mounters. Thanks a lot for the help, was so hard to to find anything on internet about this problem.

If anyone had similar problems with automatic DTools Lite 10.8 image mounting within Launchbox like me recently, please let me know. I'm on newest version WIN 10 pro 64.

I've been looking for infos about this problem all over the net, but I didn't find anything. My recent problems:

After ignoring DTools Lite 10.7's pleas to update to 10.8 for months, I finally gave the new update a try today.
I don't really trust DaemonTools updates, I had other problems before at times with some old functionality not working anymore after auto-updates, but I was annoyed by the constant update info popups and just went on.

And I was right to hesitate with the update, again DTools messed up my Launchbox usage settings in a very annoying way.

Before I could easily use DTAgent for auto-mounting as additional app and have done so without problems. I could just point the add. app. to DTAgent and put in a command line parameter like this:

"-mount dt, "D:\GAMES\XXX\XXX.ccd" and set it to start before main program. The same for "-unmount E" and set "start after main program" for unmounting automatically after game stop.

After I did the update to 10.8 however, none of these methods worked anymore. DTAgent just refused to mount or unmount anything. The commands were worthless and nothing happens.

Now I fiddled around a bit and luckily noticed I can just use an alternative method to auto-mount/unmount using DTCommandLine.exe. It uses other types of command line options. For automount I have to point add. app to DTCommandLine.exe, then add

    -M -l "E" -p "D:\GAMES\XXX\XXX.ccd".

It works the same, seems even a bit faster in executing the mount commands. It opens a COM window shortly, which is slightly ugly and annoying, but not a huge problem.

But now I have to exchange every game using the old DTAgent method manually to the new DTCommandLine method. This will take some time, and I still don't know what actually happened with Daemon Tools.

Could anyone please enlighten me and confirm the following: Did they really just change the command line methods with the most recent 10.8 update? Or did they even make this non-free for the future out of sheer sadism? I noticed that the "command line" section on the Daemon Tools help section only refers to DTCommandLine for DTools Lite by now, but has entries about DTAgent on its DTools Pro site.

    http://daemon-help.com/additionally/command/

    http://daemonpro-help.com/additionally/command_line_integration/

Or is there some bug in my system or in my install process causing this DTAgent failure? I'd prefer to change that back to its old DTAgent functionality before I will really have to edit all my iso-bound games, which will take days...

No they changed in DT lite command line in new version, I contacted them and they said they changed, and pointed me to same link you shared here. But I have question how did you manage to run DTCommandLine.exe, what exactly it is? I'm just not sure how to create batch file with DTCommandLIne.exe, can you please share whole script if you can, because I cant find anywhere how to do it. Thank  you

    Hey there,

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess the issue I have with the wall views is the spacing when you use Steam Banners instead of boxes. There is all that dead space between each row. I don't imagine that any of those theme's can be modified too much to accommodate the spacing for Steam Banner's without breaking the view for everyone else that uses Box art instead.

I'm sure you can easily fix that in C++ notepad, just drag that wheel into notepad and see in code where is position of those banners, and play with numbers, just punch number overwrite original wheel go into  big box mode and see what got changed. That will give you an idea should you increase numbers or decrease. For tabs and banner colors you can change that too, do the same thing, maybe there is folder with images somewhere in theme folders that you can edit in Photoshop and make it different color. That's what i did with future state theme. I just opened images that came with theme  and changed from gray and dark colors to blue shades.  I'm not coder by any means  I just play with it, and was able to makes some changes. Also before you overwrite your wheels with changes you made in C++ notepad make sure to backup original ones so you can go back if you screw up something, I mean you can always download theme again I guess.

i personally love this theme, only issue are the colors =/ not a fan of Orange / Yellow and the fonts.. if those could be change it would be perfect !!

you probably can fix that by yourself, I use C++ notepad and just open wheels or whatever i need from theme and change it in there, just backup original one in case you screw up something so you can always go back to original.
