Sorted. I had created separate config files for each of the cores so i can use borders etc. I loaded my PSX config file and changed the save settings in that file and then saved it. It now works. Again thanks for your help. Wish I could buy you guys a beer!

Hello Again All The New retroarch has now been transferred over the other PC and the PS1 emulator is working like a dream albeit with one small problem. How do you save games? I have looked online and the answers all relate to RetroPie. I have tried to alter the save states and this doesn't work. It doesn't save using the memory card. Any pointers? Again thanks in advance.

Also emulationstation will now be uninstalled.....

I only used the installer version today. I previously used the .zip folder download. However I looked in both folders (installed in Roaming and .zip elsewhere) and i noticed that there were a lot of .dll files in the install folder that were not in the .zip folder. I copied them from the installed folder to the zip folder so both folders match and the cores now load. I then set up the BIOS files so they are seen by retroarch. Opened up emulation station configs and tried the mednafen_psx_hw_libretro and the sound was really crackly. And Medal Of Honour wouldn't load. It's a must. Tried mednafen_psx_libretro and that sounded fine but again MOH wouldn't load. Tried pcsx_rearmed_libretro and it works!!!!!! I will now incorporate it into my LaunchBox on the other PC in the front room (Not installed on this one yet). Am i able to delete cores that i am not using as I only downloaded them to see if they would work. Also I have a couple of saved games whilst using ePSXe. Are these able to be transferred to retroarch or have i got to start again? Thank you all very much for all your help in getting this resolved for me. Just got to get the VIC20 one working....Blitz is also a must! if not i'll continue using winvice. Also does the Saturn need a BIOS as well?

I have started again. I have installed Retroarch 1.7.1 64 bit with the installer. I got this message on installation: [Content] This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. I then downloaded Beetle PSX HW and placed the Bios files in the system folder. I install Visual C+ 2013. I load the core. I direct the core to the BIOS folder. I try and load content .cue file with the .bin in the same folder. I get this message: --------------------------- Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --------------------------- Runtime Error! Program: C:\Users\cityc\AppData\Roaming\RetroArch\retroarch.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I get the same messages on both my PC's. Both arte running Win10.

Thanks for the link. Installed DX9. Already had this but de installed and re installed. tried to install the .NET 2015. Would not allow it due to a newer version being installed. Still shows a runtime error

Sorry guys....Shouldn't be so defeatist.... I have looked at the previous screen shots and my system matches it. So i don't think Retroarch is at fault here. Like i previously mentioned I have installed Visual C++ 2017 x64 & x86. Should I be using a different build?

I have installed the 32bit and 64 bit Visual C++ 2017 packages and still not working. Think i might give up.

I downloaded a new copy. I got the 32bit installer version this time and it works. However when i get it to load a game it gives a C++ runtime error. I have previously installed Visual C++ and it is showing in my control panel. Shall I re install that as well?

I will do. I'll keep you apprised. Thank you both for you time.

Yes it is a bit of a poser isn't it. I have tried all ways. No avail. I did notice that on the screen shot that it was showing 1.7.0. i am running 1.7.1. Could it be a bad build? Should i re download it again?
-
Yes I do. It also shows up in my list of cores available for launch in Retroarch. I deleted them and re downloaded them just in case of possible corruption within Retroarch. I have pcsx_rearmed_libretro.dll, mednafen_psx_hw_libretro.dll & mednafen_psx_libretro.dll in the cores folder. I also have SCPH5500.BIN, SCPH5501.bin and SCPH5502.BIN in the system folder. None of them load.

Again thank you for the replies. My retroarch doesn't even load the core. I have placed my bios files in the system folder, told retroarch where the bios folder is but no avail. I notice that Neil9000's screen shot shows the core loaded and therefore can point retroarch to the BIOS folder. I update the core, then i try to load it and nothing happens. It still says no core. If I go to another core for another system like genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll it loads and shows at the bottom. Also this happens on 2 PC's that i have tried it on.

Thank you both for your replies. I do have everything in Launchbox working. To get borders working for each emulator ie Sega I renamed them Genesis_Gen for Genesis, _MS for master system and so on. Also I put in an extra comand line with each emulator default platform so it loads the settings for borders an so on. I have had both fun and despair in equal measure learning all this! It's just the Retroarch PS1 and Winvice cores that are bugging me! I suppose i am a completist on these matters but if i can't sort it, no matter.

Greetings All After trying a few emulator front ends I have decided that I am going to stick with Launchbox. I tried Hyperspin/Rocketlauncher which I found more complicated than it needed to be. Also it wouldn't find any of my ROMS due to the naming issues. Wasn't going to rename ROMS so a program can find them. They should automatically launch from a ROMS folder.... I tried Emulationstation and found this to be more user friendly and setting up was a lot easier once you understand the command lines....YouTube beckoned and was a great help. Big shout to Simply Austin. Yes he waffles but he is very informative. I learnt a lot from this guy. I found out though that ES wasn't saving my PS1 games.... In both programs I was using Retroarch 1.7.1 as a main emulator. However I was never able to use any of the PSX or WinVice cores. They just wouldn't load. I tried updating them, inserting BIOS files but nothing worked. This was disappointing as I do like the onscreen borders that Retroarch applies. So I use ePSXe, ePXS2 and XVic instead. No borders though... I will be buying Big Box when funds allow. I do have one question though....Does anybody know how to get Retroarch to load cores. Mine doesn't load all Atari cores apart from the 7800 one, all WinVice and all PS1 cores. I have tried scanning for games....Made no difference. I tried installing Bios.....No change. Am I just going to have to bite the bullet and use separate emu's for these programs? I ask this because I would like borders if possible. Any advise would be appreciated. Rgds
