Hiding Games by Ratings in Big Box

Is there a way in Big Box to filter out games by ratings so you can hide some games from children?

I don't see anything in the settings, but you could create an application:

1. that searches for 'M - Mature' in the Data/Platforms xml files
2. sets those hidden-tag to true
3. once all platforms are processed, start-up big box

In case you are willing to do it manually, in LaunchBox you could:

1. filter the games by Rating
2. select 'M - Mature'
3. ctrl+A and ctrl+E to select and edit all roms
4. edit the hidden field and set it to true

 

2 issues:

1. you won't be able to tell the difference between games that are hidden because they were hidden because of the rating and games that were hidden for other reasons.
2. in order to show the M-rated games, you'll probably have to restart big box
