Questions about rocket launcher launch box combo

I'm trying to set up Rocket launcher with launch box I have some questions. As I understand it it's a basic requirement to add your controller in rocket launcher through xpadder that way you can map your controller to different functions like closing the emulator.

 

However I was wondering if there's a way to use the steam controller mapper in place of xpadder? That way I wouldn't have to ensure steam's closure every time that I wish to access launch box/ rocket launcher.
