Textures and shadows

I'm new to using retroarch and using hi res textures with it.  The pack I'm using looks fine, except for two things:  link's hat has a strange seam to it, and he has some sort of strange shadows on certain parts of his tunic.  Would changing any of the settings in retroarch fix this?
