Switch to desktop mode not working

Ever since updating to 11.4, I'm no longer able to "switch to desktop mode" from Big Box ..there is always a process hanging that I need to kill before trying to open Launcbox again. The issue is in 11.4. 11.5 beta1 and 11.5 beta2 for me. I re-installed 11.3 and it works as expected.

Anyone know if it is a bug, or if there's a way to fix it?
