I'm trying to set up my Tribute 64 controller in retroarch using parallel core and I'm having an absolute nightmare.

Has anybody figured out how to get N64 style controllers working right?

Received a reply on Reddit that (mostly) solves the issue. As follows:

I made a config for the Tribute64 back in 2019. It's included in the default joypad profiles, but you need to uncomment line 8 "#input_product_id = "654" as it conflicts with another controller by default. Look for the file Retro-Bit Tribute64 - USB (D-Input).cfg inside your autoconfig folder. The file should look like this: https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-joypad-autoconfig/blob/master/xinput/Retro-Bit%20Tribute64%20-%20USB%20(D-Input).cfg

Still having a slight issue with L & R bumper buttons for some reason though.

Left C button, comes up as "3" in RA, and is mapped to "Right Analogue (Left)" - Works as intended as Left C in game.

Yet...

L button, comes up as "4" in RA, and I've mapped it to "L Button (Shoulder)" - For some reason does not function as L button should, instead functions as Left C.

Same goes for R button, comes up as 5, mapped to R button (shoulder), but in game acts as Right C.

I'm testing this in GooldenEye, where in the controller section in that pause menu you can test your button inputs.

It's weird.

Ah, you probably have Quick Menu > Options > Independant C buttons ON, turn it back OFF, close content and restart the game, then it should be mapped to right analog properly.
