Is there a way to have a game for a different platform show up as a version of a game?

I'm currently creating a playlist for the classic style Mega Man games, and, since all of the games except for 7 have appeared on at least two consoles, I was hoping that there could be a way to merge the various versions of the same game, to have them display like how regional variants display. Combining the entries does partially works, but it loads the alternate version of the game with the wrong Retroarch core.
