MAME cores not working, post 1.4 update SOLVED

Update:

Somehow, Boot to OSD was set in the Current MAME core.  I did not set that option, but seems of course Launch Box would not write such a change either.

Oh, well- Solved, none the less.  I noticed that the 2015 and 16 cores worked, so methodically compared settings.  Bingo.

Strange thing is games worked minutes before updating, but then I updated to 1.4 and they stopped working after that.  Odd stuff!

This issue started immediately after updating to 1.4 on a Samsung Tab S8 Ultra.

First time that I've experienced this, but regardless of what version of Retroarch used or MAME core, when I choose a game, I get a MAME UI screen, that shows a rom list of "10 X 10 (Barcrest) (MPU4)..."

That is the only core that has an issue.  All others including Naomi runs and works great.  Until now, MAME worked great as well.

Added:  FWIW,  I deleted the Arcade data file and redid the arcade part of Launch Box, but still same issue.
