griffinballs
Theres probably some screenshots around here somewhere, I'm uploading them but no idea where they'll end up, look around on this post somewhere, I mean at this stage I don't know if they like show at the bottom of the post or if you gotta like click em or what, figure it out! Hi all I'll preface this with. I am not a theme creator. This comes with ZERO support, ZERO additions, this is it, I'm done. I am just a dude that has had a custom mame cabinet for about 3 years and it has been using RetroHumanoid's wonderful Unified Refried which I have loved...HOWEVER. It has never actually catered properly to my screen size and resolution. I've not found many themes at 5:4 and most that I have are just stretched from 16:9. I wanted everything anatomically correct and also, there are a few little tweaks I wanted to make for my personal machine to be the experience I wanted. So I spent about 4 days (I haven't slept much lol) painstakingly modifying Unified Refried to be my own flavour which I call Unified Refried 54 (All credit goes to the original creators of both Unified Refried and Unified and Launchbox itself while we're at it, all I did was photoshop and re lay stuff out really). I am not a coder, I am an "IT" guy but I could not program in xaml before this, now I can get by modifying it. Now that I've finished, I just think it looks too nice not to share, it fits every need I had from the project and I'm really happy to finally get my arcade just the way I've wanted for years. I've seen people looking for something like this in the past (I'm not too up to date, this may already exist and I can't find it), but who knows, may help loads of people, may help none. But sod it, its here for anyone to use or modify to their own style. I know there is the CTC but I had a little play with that and thought it looked even more painful to recreate all the controls etc so I opted to modify the existing xamls. Things I wanted to come out of this project were: - -All videos/text/images/titles/backgrounds etc correct aspect ratio for the content and with borders to suit (arcade machine was very stretched looking) (Also the default way the text gets laid out even with the 4:3 option is just a bit wonky here and there on 5:4). -Active marquees (not video ones), just ones that reflected the game (I think this was part of the original theme but I don't think I enabled it, so I basically copied the code and modified it for my layout.) -Category title on game selection page (As I was covering up the original title in the marquee) -Scrolling game description on game selection page -To be able to properly read all the menu and option items (again weird sizing) So yeah, I pretty much ticked all those boxes which was good enough for me. I'll be perfectly honest, as I'm not a coder, it most definitely could be made more efficiently so it is what it is, if anyone wants to improve it whilst chuckling away at my poor coding skills then be my guest, I take no offence. Do whatever you want with this download. The people this is for is the people like me, who have that theme and love it but just don't have the time to put in to recreate the things I've done and it's just eating away at their soul every time they look at a stretched video on their arcade. Lastly, theres quite a bit of extra space on the main platform page now due to the aspect ratio of the videos so there could be room for you to add your own shortcut control images or something, thats what I'm possibly planning, so people can see how to use it without me having to always explain, anyway, fill your boots. Instructions ----------------- 1) Read above, especially the part where it says I will not give any support 2) Paste this shtuff (this is not a spelling mistake, I am talking like Goldmember right now) into the themes directory (I'm sure you know the drill by now) 3) Enable it in the old bigga boxa 4) THIS IS IMPORTANT, VERY IMPORTANT 5) Only use the Platform View 3, Game Wheel 2, TextGameView and Options/System Menu. I HAVE NOT modified any of the other parts of the theme, and I also borked up trying to edit them out so lol, its so inefficient it's hilarious. But you can all dress this up how you want, I probably will eventually myself. 6) THIS IS EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT 7) Only use the Arcade categories and of those, only the genres and classics, I don't bother with all the millions of systems as I want my menu a little bit hmmm, browsable, so I take it down to relatively barebones (still like 39 bloody categories I mean jeez how many you need?) Again you are more than welcome to take my lead and modify the images you need the way I did. 8. Really I can't type 😎 stupid smiley generation, I'm just trying to type bleedin 😎 I mean for the love of 8 ).... 9) Live long and prosper (I don't even like Star Wars) I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. And if you don't...Buddy! Go eat a Snickers and if you still don't like it...Well fair enough really, each to their own, I won't judge (Unless you directly insult me, and if you do insult ME Buddy! well, then I hope you have an unpleasant poo (oh yeah, I went there!) Peace up, A Town! Griff p.s. If this like goes against forum rules or anything for like copying or something, ah well, sorry about that. I tried to reference and thank all those truly responsible, but if it still contradicts on rules, I understand. 1676565198_UnifiedRefried54.7z Edited January 7, 2023 by griffinballs
