Dravin
After installing 13.8 the program won't open. Was able to install and run an older version of 11. I tried a version of 12 and to update 11. All do not run. I download .net framework, ran chkdsk, PC is Windows 7 sp1 fresh install.
roar2023
Not trying to thread jack but hopefully I can breathe some life into this for you Dravin. I am having a similar issue myself and have been rabbit holing these forums for the last few hours to see if I can fix this issue. I am pretty savvy and have been able to troubleshoot all of my issues so far based on digging through this place but this one is stumping me.So I caved and created my account to see if someone out there can help me because I am hopeless and jonesing to get back into LB. For myself - I was able to play a couple of days ago before 13.8 updated. The error that is happening is: LB flashes the screen to launch and then disappears within seconds. Nothing opens, no errors. It is not hanging out in my task manager, done multiple reboots throughout all the troubleshooting, What have I done to troubleshoot the issue? 1.) Reinstalled a fresh copy of 13.8 (before the rabbit holing began) 2.) I went into my LB\Updates folder and located the 13.7 Setup and ran, it did not end up the launchbox\launchbox install 3.) Reinstalled 13.8 again 4.) Went into my LB\Backups folder and extracted my last known config that worked 5.) Checked the LB\Logs but my last logs were from weeks ago Running on Windows 11 Pro
roar2023
For anyone in the future who runs into this, I ended up figuring out how to fix it myself, I did a Windows Restore to before 13.8 was installed and it fixed it.
Dravin
No worries, glad your issue is resolved. Unfortunately I'm still at a loss to what's going on. I've been trying multiple versions and just isn't working.
roar2023
Hi Dravin, Sorry you're still not having luck. I am no expert in this but the only thing that seems to be fixing this for me is a Windows Restore. Did you try a Windows Restore? I chose a point to before 13.8 installed, I think 11/1 it installed on my machine so I chose 10/30 which was the first date prior to the install. The reason I came back to this forum - I did not play on LB for a few days after I fixed and the same exact issue happened again. The error that is happening is: LB flashes the screen to launch and then disappears within seconds. Nothing opens, no errors. I did all of my troubleshooting steps I listed above: "What have I done to troubleshoot the issue? 1.) Reinstalled a fresh copy of 13.8 (before the rabbit holing began) 2.) I went into my LB\Updates folder and located the 13.7 Setup and ran, it did not end up the launchbox\launchbox install 3.) Reinstalled 13.8 again 4.) Went into my LB\Backups folder and extracted my last known config that worked 5.) Checked the LB\Logs but my last logs were from weeks ago" I noticed that my LB updated again to 13.8. I rolled back to 13.7, went into the LB\Updates folder and installed it from there. Since none of the troubleshooting above worked, I ended up having to do another Windows Restore to 10/30. Personally, I am keeping off automatic updates in LB settings as this has happened twice, I think there might be something not playing nice IMO. Good luck Dravin, hopefully something shakes out for you.
James910066
I'm having similar issue. It just keeps initializing when starting up. What I found out was my computer was launching multiple instances of it so it just sits there an loads. So I killed all the running processes and ran executable from the file location. I created a new shortcut on my desktop using the executable in file location.
