Joysticks not registering on BB menu but buttons do

Hi folks, I’m new to BB and LB. I have everything setup in my modified arcade cabinet (games work, theme loaded, controls work for my cores, etc.) However, at the BB menu screen, BB does not recognize my joysticks. The buttons I mapped in the menu to play and exit, all work but BB will not recognize the directionality of my joysticks.
 

To be clear, joysticks work with retroarch and all my games but not at the BB menu to select games but my buttons do work.

I hope this is enough information and any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE: I got them recognized! For future people that may need this, I did the following: LB, Tools, Options, under “controller” click “recognize  joystick” and the optional “allow all controllers to work menu”. The last couple of titles are approximations as I don’t have the screen in front, but it’s actually easy. Thank you!
