Mame 0.139 and xml error - Mame.xml child node not named "machine" and fails import

Launchbox would be exactly the tool I need to put together the rompack I want to use for my cabinet. However, I'm set to 0.139 (2010) and that's no longer supported out of the box by Launchbox. A solution is mentioned in a thread that should work, but I don't have the background to understand where I need to change something. Maybe someone here can help me get this running. Thank you!
