Isnt there any way to have the import be faster?

Dear lord, my internet speed is amazing but the import for my mame set with the art is horrendously long. isn't there a solution that can be found? I work at the library and in my experience there is never not a solution. that's just silly. No problem cannot be solved or service improved if there is a very real obstacle.
