Mame .269 & Happ USB Trackball

Hello,

I'm struggling to setup a track ball on my Mame .269 system.  The track ball currently works in windows and will move the mouse around the screen.  However, in Mame I'm not getting any love.  In the input devices menu I've set Trackball to "mouse" however when I attempt to configure the 1p y track and x track by rolling the ball the movement is not detected and the key setting sits blank.

I've got to be missing something simple but all of the guides and how-to's thus far never show this particular issue.

 

Any help would be lovely.

aaaaand disregard.  Set the x and y to default and it slapped the mouse x and mouse y in the fields.

Weird behavior.
