alexkiddd Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi there, I have a problem when importing FBNeo roms, I have followed the youtube video but when I'm importing there are some games that Launchbox does not recognize, for example the game Akai Katana with romfile akatana.zip, or the game Samurai Shodown V Perfect with rom samsh5fe.zip, also, if I proceed to the import there are many games without metadata and I have to go one by one and change the name to be recognized by the DB, one example is 3 Count Bout / Fire Suplex and many others, I have attached a printscreen. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks! EDIT: I have imported everything again but with the Force using MAME metadata enabled, it missed 4 games, when scraping the same thing happens: Quote
Coralus Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I am having the same issue. Also Launchbox reports that FBNeo doesnt support the ROM i am opening but the ROM opens fine from within FBNeo. Frustrating. Looked at the tutorial on setting up FBNeo but it seems to want me to use RetroArch also, which I dont see the point in? Quote

For FBNeo the best emulator is Retroarch with FBNeo core, if you have a MAME romset you have to use MAME emulator. Regarding the problem I posted, I had to import the roms with the MAME metadata checked, but even with that, there are several NeoGeo games that need to be tweaked manually. The problem is that those games have two names, the japanese and the english naming and LB fails to recognize them. Quote

Turns out my issue was just a command line syntax error. /redface I do often find that launchbox doesn't correctly ID games itself though. Just have to adjust the names ourselves on those occasions. I avoid any retroarch use these days. I find it too touchy and when I have neonate as a core and launchbox as a front end I don't want another bunch of code to deal with. YMMV Quote
