r-snes Posted Thursday at 04:22 PM Posted Thursday at 04:22 PM Hello there! As part of our final year project in computer science, we are a group of 4 developing a Super NES emulator with a plugin permission management system. These plugins will run in a Rust-based VM, where Lua scripts can interact with the emulator while respecting strict access rights. Each plugin will be able to run at defined intervals (per frame, per second, etc.) and will be listed on a future marketplace. The user will be informed of the accesses requested by each plugin with a pop-up. The goal is to allow you to create and share plugins while ensuring a secure environment. If you could develop a plugin for a SNES emulator, what would it be? From a security standpoint, what permissions should be essential or restricted to prevent abuse? And what features do you think are essential to improve your experience? We’re building this project for and with the community, it will run for at least 2 years, and will be maintained and improved in the long term, especially thanks to you! So please feel free to reach out to us here or email us at: contact.rsnes@gmail.com Quote
