Retroarch Save States Not Working

Hi All, 

I have recently made an emu pc, however I have it all installed as a portable drive on an external SSD. I have LB as the front end and I am using retroarch as the main emulator on windows 11.

 

I have autosave state and auto load state enabled for NES, SNES, Mega Drive etc... however I noticed it wasn't working. I thought I was doing something wrong but I had exported my collection via the LB export feat to my retroid pocket 3+, where these features work as expected. On the PC, I tried manually saving by going into the quick menu and saving the state, but that isn't working either.

 

Is there any suggestions on how I can get the save state feature to work please?
