Big box sound ok, game sound MIA. Known bug or something?

I installed LB/BB on a computer two weeks ago and have it hooked up via HDMI to my living room tv. Sound with Launchbox works fine, sound with a locally installed game (Assassin’s Creed) works fine, but running a game inside BB yields silence. It also seems to run pretty slowly too, which… well, this isn’t a slow computer by any standard (7800x3d and gtx3080). 

Is this a known bug with the MAME software currently installed by LB?

It’s not a common MAME bug, but BigBox can sometimes default to the wrong audio device - check your MAME settings and make sure the sound output matches your TV. As for the slowdown, MAME might be using heavy video effects by default, so try switching to a simpler video mode like Direct3D or turning off HLSL in the settings.
