Retroarch lags with no sound upon intermittent controller reconnects

So this is an issue that has only started recently. I'll be playing one of the older consoles, and will randomly get the message that controller has disconnected and reconnected in a split second, then the game goes down to 1fps, no sound, and won't fix itself until I restart retroarch. This has happened to both usb and bluetooth controls. This has only started happening in the last week.

I'm using the latest version, all drivers are updated and running Windows 11.
