OK- I can live without that feature, but see how it could be useful. I'll follow the fix for VLC.
I'm OK 'freezing' my launchbox version now knowing that features may be added that cause problems for older versions of MAME. From prior front ends, it did not occur to me that updating the launcher could impact the emulator. They were likely more basic or required you to manually edit cfg files yourself. The first that looks for updates itself for sure.
Not looking to update MAME (again) is just due to having started with it ~20 years ago back when you had to physically mail CD's to a contact that was willing to copy and mail back. DOS, editing text config files, clrmame, etc. Everything manual and took a lot of time troubleshooting to get things working. 149 is 'current' to me (37b lasted a long time) and only have trouble with a game or two. I'm not sure how many times I've updated at this point. Have also been through MAMEwah, hyperspin and others over the years to have the cabinet easy for people to use.
Maybe things are more push button now to get things going with newer sets, but if it was stable and configured you left it alone unless you had a lot of time on your hands. Not sure what I'm missing in the newer emulation (aside from games from the late 90's on) and perhaps it now only takes a few hours to set up. In the past was a huge undertaking- and most sites from the past are long gone.
