  1. I am using MameUI64 version 0.201 and the mame.ini is in the same folder as the mameui64.exe. I also tried using Mame0.201 but got the same results. The games run from within MameUI0.201 and from within Mame0.201 but will not run when using Launchbox or BigBox. In Launchbox I double click on a game and the screen goes black for about 4 seconds and then a small box that says "Loading... " flashes quickly on the screen and then it returns to the menu again. I don't understand why the games run ok in Mame but not in Launchbox or BigBox. Because all of the other console games run fine in Launchbox, it made me think that it might be the Mame emulator but as I said, the games run ok in stand alone Mame. I've been trying to get this working for 3 days now with no success.
  2. Ok, I set up Mame0.201, copied 4 games into the rom folder and run them from the CMD window and 3 out of the 4 games run ok but they do not run in Launchbox. In Launchbox I selected the same games, pressed edit and under emulator I selected Mame0.201 but it won't run the game. Why not? Got me puzzled! Starting to get frustrated.
  3. In your example screenshots you are using Mame0.202 where as I am using MameUI0.201. I have attached screenshots of what I see in 0,201. I also looked at the mame.ini file to try to point it from there but I don't see where to do that. I have attached the mame.ini file as well. MAMEUI.ini This is the main screen This is the options menu This is the directories window If I browse to and select the roms folder and click ok,, when I double click on a game rom it just wants to extract it from the .zip.
  4. The easiest way is to put all the roms in the roms folder inside the MAME emu folder, but they can be anywhere, you just need to point MAME to the folder. Then you just need to double click a game in the MAME UI. Stupid question but,... how do you point MameUI to the folder?
  5. Ok, I'll try that. Before reading your previous message, I downloaded Mame0.201, removed the previous version (0.202), from Launchbox and added the 0.201 version. Since the roms were already in Launchbox, and I didn’t know, prior to your previous post, how to test them with Mame0.201 by itself, I tried again to run them in Launchbox after adding the Mame0.201 but I still get the same thing. The screen goes black for 3 or 4 seconds and then returns to the menu. Now I'll try to run them in Mame itself. Thank you for you help and patience. Very much appreciated.
  6. Thanks. I just checked the rom set and apparently it is 0.201, (MAME.Roms.0.201.Split.Set). So how would I run the roms in Mame first without Retroarch or Launchbox? Thanks.
  7. All of this emulation stuff is new to me. How do you tell what version roms are? If I'm looking to download another set of roms, how do I tell what version they are? Trying to run the games in Mame itself first makes sense though. Is there a way to delete all of the Arcade games from Launchbox including all of the images etc.? Thanks for your help.
  8. I imported a number of games such as Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, snes , etc. and all seem to work with no problems but after importing a number of Arcade games I can’t get a single arcade game to run. Using Retroarch Core Updater I downloaded Arcade (FBAlpha) and Arcade (Mame 2003) and they don’t seem to run the games. I then tried Mame stand alone and it doesn’t run them either. When I try to run them with Mame stand alone the screen goes black for 3 or 4 seconds and then just returns to the menu again. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to get these running? Thanks
  9. Ok, Thanks. I just wondered why Galaga, while being slow, would run in LB but not in BB. What is the best way to delete this rom from LB so I can try to find another one?
  10. After 4 days of wrestling with launchbox, (the problem was with me, not Launchbox), I think I have things almost sorted out. There are just a couple of problems that I need help with. First problem is that all of my SNES games run fine in both LB and BB but running some of my Arcade games in LB, Galaga being one ( I love Galaga), it runs but when pressing the fire button on my Xbox 360 controller, it is very slow. I fire a round and it is almost all of the way up to the top of the screen before the next round is fired. I am using mame2003 from within Retroarch as the emulator. I tried a couple of other Mame cores but it made no difference. The second problem is that while most of the Arcade games that I have tried run fine in Launchbox, some of them like, Galaga, do not run in BigBox. In BB I double click on Galaga and it says "Loading..." but it does not load. Maybe a setting in BigBox? I'm not sure if there are settings options in BigBox but if there is, I don't know how to access them. Any help with these problems would be very much appreciated and a BIG thank you to all of those who have helped me so far. Thanks.
  11. Ok, I see the SNES but my problem is that I downloaded the emulator for Atari 800, 2600, 5200 and 7800 using Retroarch Core Updater. When I look for them in the Associated Platform all that is listed is Atari 800. What happened to the Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800? When I run an Atari 2600 or 5200 game it runs in 800 mode. I also downloaded the Commodore Amiga emulator using the Core Updater but it is not listed in there either. I know that you said that I would have to add that manually but it is in the index of the Core Updater and was supposed to have been downloaded.
  12. Thank you for your help. I first went into Retroarch/Core Updater and from the index I selected a number of cores such as Commodore Amiga, Gameboy Advance, Super Nintendo Entertainment System etc. I have Retroarch set to save configuration upon exit. I went into Launchbox/Tools/Manage Emulators/Retroarch and clicked on the Associated Platform tab as you suggested but the Commodore Amiga, Gameboy Advance, and Super Nintendo Entertainment System is not listed in the Assciated Platform list. I went back and redownloaded them from the Core Updater but they are still not listed. Don't know why!
  13. Ok, I reinstalled Launchbox, added some needed emulators to Retroarch, and set up the controller in Retroarch. I then ran Launchbox and then selected BigBox, which now runs ok. In BigBox, I went into ‘Options”, turned the controller on and selected Xbox 360 controller. Now in BigBox the D-Pad and the Left analog work fine for scrolling through the menu. If I select a game from the menu and press the ‘A’ button on the controller it initiates another menu of which one of the options is ‘Play’. I press the ‘A’ button again and a small window opens that says ‘Loading’ but then after a couple of seconds the window closes and I am back at the menu again. The game does not load. Anyone shed any light on this for me?
  14. Ok,... that makes things a bit clearer. I am reinstalling the original Launchbox, (not the ColPipes version), and I'll try setting up the controllers in the various emulators. Thank you so much for the help.
  15. Oh! Ok, I wasn't aware of that. I think I know how to set up a controller in Retroarch but are other emulator controller setups similar? In Retroarch you double click on the retroarch (dot) exe and go to Settings>Input. Would you do the same in other emulators? Thank you for your help.
  16. Previously I had installed Launchbox 8.1 with Retroarch and BigBox worked fine except for the fact that I couldn't figure out the 360 controller. The controller allowed me to scroll through the menu but would not do anything as far as starting a game or anything. I started a game using my keyboard and the controller did nothing while the game was running. My keyboard did work though. That is why I removed Launchbox and installed the Launchbox fully loaded by ColPipes because it said that the 360 controller was per configured. In that version I have to select a game with the keyboard but once in the game the controller seems to work, except for exiting a game and going back to the main menu. But that is all within Launchbox and not BigBox. Maybe I'll just reinstall the original Launchbox and try to get the controller working in there.
  17. I went to the help> registration and browsed to the license file and clicked <open> and it said license applied, registered to "my name" but BigBox still does not run. In the upper right corner of the screen next to the minimize icon it says "Registered to and my Name" so it seems like it is registered ok but not working. Laucnhbox updated itself to version version 8.9 when I last ran it. I don't know if that also updates BigBox. Don't know how to check the version of BigBox. As for the controller I will try to upload an image but I'll have to do that in a little while because I have some errands to do right now. Thanks for your help. Very much appreciated.
  18. I tried to figure out how to get my Xbox 360 controller to work in Launchbox but could not figure it out. I then decided to install Launchbox No Intro Fully Loaded by ColPipes which I believe is supposed to be already setup for the Xbox 360 controller but it is still not working. Any suggestions? Also, I copied my Launchbox Premium file into the Launchbox directory but BigBox doesn’t work. I just get advertisements about BigBox. Any thought on this also? Thanks
