I’m dumb my bad disregard I needed to change my UI input on Mame

Can’t seem to get controller automation working I’m using 2 easyget joystick 10 button controller setup. Have it turned on in big box and In launch box mapped to p1 joy1 button 9 for the hold and then button 10 for the close. I also have button 9 mapped to player 1 start and button 10 mapped to coin 1. Do they have to be clear buttons for this to work? Everything else seems to work fine
