I've been thinking more on this Could I setup the cabinet joystick and buttons which are all mapped anyway to specific keys with the ipac and then use JoyToKey so that when I use the pad it correlates to the same key press? i.e. using cabinet. - left on joystick is arrow left which moves mario to the left Using joytokey - left on dpad is left arrow on keyboard which moves mario to the left Or am I dreaming and miles off and making this to simplistic !

DOH. gutted - thanks! I won't be using them both at the same time as such but understood. I mainly use the cabinet controls so if I set it up mainly for the cabinet (IPac/keyboard) and just plug in the USB for specific games will that mess things up ?

I think this will be a simple thing to do but I've just confused myself with it all.... I have an arcade cabinet with an iPac Ultimate, Aimtrak and USB xbox controller. How do I make some platforms / games recognise and use the keyboard and pad at the same time? Example. If I'm playing SuperMario in an NES emulator, I like to use the cabinet joystick and buttons (keyboard through the ipac) BUT if I'm playing mario cart or another game I prefer to use the xbox pad and not touch the cabinet buttons. I obviously don't want to go through every game separately setting up the controls but no issues if doing it by platform. I'm not sure if using joy2key would helop the situation as like I say - I've just confused myself with it all and about to scream

So I've setup LB & BB with a basic set of Roms and downloaded the media to go with them. I'm using an iPac Ultimate and the buttons are mapped to standard Mame keys and the joystick to the arrows. But I cannot control anything within LB or BB. The only key that seems to work is esc on the keyboard. If I open BB I can get back to the menu with the esc but I can't move up or down - not even with the keyboard? Any ideas.

I'm doing exactly that and now sat back whilst it downloads my Mame pictures etc. Easy so far :) Is it easy to set a new 'wheel' (sorry that's a HS term and not even sure what they are called in LaunchBox !) for lightgun specific games from different systems. Even if they are in other system wheels? Thanks for the prompt response but I'm liking it so far !

I'm completely new to Retro gaming and just decided one day to build a cabinet before looking into the insides of it all I've finished my cabinet build and was putting HyperSpin on but so far have had nothing but hassles with getting it working how I'd like it. I have all LED lights (6 for each of the 2 players, coin, player, load/save/esc/reset and 2 flippers) and an aimtrak lightgun and tempted to go Launchbox and BigBox route. Is BigBox compatible with LEDBlinky? Be a shame to have all these LED's and not putting them to use I have a shed load of ROMs but will likely just get a build to download so I can start to actually use the cabinet how I'd like before tweaking it to how I want. I Don't want 1000's of systems on and will just stay with MAME, NES, ScummVM, American Laser and a couple of others so I can use my lightgun on Time Crisis and the like. Someone either sell me on BB or stick with HS as I'm pulling my hair out !!!
