Hello @retrojoshvc I found this thread the other day and I absolutely love your work. I recently was introduced to @PadeMoNiuM Prods and Salty and have subscribed to their Patreon. Their work and yours has inspired me to start to learn how to create these themes. I would love if you have the time to keep making them, especially the system ones, they are the hardest to come by. I personally use all the ones you created so far. I am most looking forward to the PS3,Xbox 360, releases.

Thank you for all you do, I will check out your YouTube video soon.

Thank you so much. I was thinking about making a couple this weekend, just to sort of add to the collection. I’m in the midst of a large documentary project I’m creating (not gaming related), so it has eaten up all of my free time, but I’ll see what I can do! Thank you again for the kind words!

  2. Platform Video Marquee Pack

    View File

Here are 9 platform video marquees that I've created. I was originally posting these on the forum, but I'm a dummy and never posted them here. Hopefully more people will see them. I plan to make more, but these do take a decent amount of time to produce. Video files are 2880x1080. This is what my personal ultrawide monitor marquee at home is built for, so I hope that converts over to what other people have.

Also, if I'm uploading this in the wrong section, or if there aren't enough videos in this package, then I'm terribly sorry!

Thanks for your answers @rétrojoshvc Overall, I think that highlighting creators raises the overall level. It motivates talent to excel, it inspires new vocations, and above all, it respects creative effort.

And believe me, when we do that, quality skyrockets, projects explode with creativity, and everyone wins – including users. I'm giving you the links again in case you missed them!  :)

@rétrojoshvc You can also add yours to complete if you want. Unity is strength Because it's your post too lol! ^^

Love the videos! You say add mine to complete, how do I go about adding mine? I just now finally noticed that entire section of the site and the "submit" a file button, lol. Trying to find a section of the site for Marquee videos, but don't see one so far. Going to finish the MK and Metal Slug series (mostly) and then I'll go back to making Platform videos since that seems to be what people need most.

"Hey guys, I'm taking the liberty of leaving a little note. Great work @retrojoshvc you really know you're a Highlander, you know: we don't have much practice left ^^! It's nice to see motivated people taking over. Because in reality, only 4/5 of us on the scene create video themes—we can almost count ourselves on the fingers of one hand.

For my part, I've been doing it for 15 years, and I can tell you that, whatever anyone says, a little feedback or encouragement under a creation is hugely motivating.

The thing is, these days, we see very few likes or comments. It's not that we're looking for medals, but when you spend 4 or 5 hours on a theme, and you see 1,100 downloads... for only 2 likes, frankly, it stings a little.
Think about it: a little note, a like, a bit of feedback—it costs nothing, but for us, it changes everything.

The power of atmosphere in intro videos is too often underestimated.
Some captivate from the first second, conveying the heritage, identity, and emotion of a game.
Some will say, "30 seconds is enough," others, "3 minutes is too long."
But really? There are no rules. What matters is the emotion.

A good set of videos can literally transform an entire system.
These aren't just additions—they're the guardians of our gaming culture. They create an atmosphere, they prepare for adventure, they pay homage.
A well-thought-out intro video is an emotional gateway, a reminder of what makes each game unique.

Some players settle for simple gameplay videos.

Aside from the practical aspect (and the space-saving aspect, okay 😅), they often feel cold and impersonal.
A default interface, without gimmicks, without nostalgia, without memories…
it simply doesn't do justice to the richness of our video game heritage.

Atmospheric intros, carefully crafted videos, they bring a real emotional dimension.
They awaken memories, they create a connection, they remind us why we fell in love with these games.

Ultimately, an intro video doesn't just show off a game.
It tells a story. It invites you on a journey.
That's what makes all the difference. That's what makes the experience magical.

And if you're ever looking for a specific theme, don't hesitate to ask me—even in English.

    Proof of concept :

Wow, all of this means so much coming from you! I’ve been a big fan for a long time! Was even on the Patreon for a while! Love your work! It is a big inspiration for me!

I have a YouTube channel where I make documentaries about crazy cult films, so that is where a lot of my time in AfterEffects goes right now. I do find it hard to jump back into making marquees and such because it doesn’t seem like many people really need them. The market is so small. But it’s truly the small comments and “thanks” that keep bringing me back. My personal arcade is sort of collecting my wife’s junk sitting on top of it at the moment (no time to play recently), so when I make a video it’s for those who may download it. However… When you spend 3-4 hours working on something and then don’t hear any feedback, it’s easy to forget the project. But when I get one of these emails from Launchbox every so often and I see one or two people have commented, it brings me back and makes me want to help out the community :)

We want more we want more (system marquee videos)

I've got a little request, here's my list of systems/playlists, hopefully you can make them all:

Thank you so much! It takes a lot of time and work to make these videos, but I’ll do my best to get more active on them! Keep an eye on this space!

  6. Sorry, just saw your post! Made one of the first MK game real quick (well, like an hour, lol)

What do you think? I have the project files and can always edit them. I work this weekend, but I'll try to get some stuff done Monday-Wednesday. Hopefully for the MK series and finish with Metal Slug.

Where to find animated marquees for Metal Slug Series or Tekknoparrot ?

Well, I went ahead and tried to duplicate the Teknoparrot marquee from Arcade Adam's video:

Also, I looked back and saw your request for the Metal Slug series. So, I started with the first game:

I used a chromatic aberration effect on the footage, kinda going for a "CRT Feel," but is it too much? Feel like I might need to tone it down a bit.

I'll try to get the other games done throughout the week as long as I have time. If people want to leave suggestions for platforms (especially platforms) or games that need doing, I'm willing to slowly try and get them done. Might be a way for me to actually start doing more of these.

I am searching for the Animated Teknoparrot System Video in this Clip. I hope some can send to me. It looks so cool.

I’m not sure where to find it, but I can see if I can come up with something similar. Will make it easier on myself and look for a similar background visualizer effect on Envato Elements.

  9. Made a couple more, feeling inspired! If you feel anything looks off, want something changed, or want to make a request, let me know. These next two might be too "overly filtered" for some. Let me know and maybe I'll upload with less lighting effects layered over the top.

I'll attach these two to this post as well.

  10. Sorry all! When I posted this, it didn’t seem like there was much interest, so I never got around to figuring out how to post the files. Since then, I obviously haven’t been around, so I didn’t see these replies until Truest1 messaged me earlier (and I got an email).

So, newb question, what would be the easiest way to upload the files? Tomorrow I’ll see about tracking down the ones I have and I’ll be glad to upload them. I know I have a Sega Genesis one as well that I made and I do actually plan on making more (oddly enough, it was on my mind to get started back on this and I literally planned to start back up on it in the morning).

I don't personally use a marquee in any of my builds but these are pretty interesting. If you don't mind the criticism I'd consider adding a white border around the logo's you use as they can be hard to see against the video. Also with that being said the Nintendo logo you're using has some holes not punched out in it (first e is still filled in) that give it a really unpolished feel. Overall the concept is sound and I'm glad your enjoying the process.

Noted. Missed that E in the logo. Edited the files and re-uploaded them, also added a thicker stroke around some objects. I am enjoying the process! End goal is to have videos for at least all of my platforms in the future.

  12. Hey all! I've never uploaded any files on here and don't want to post anything in the wrong place, or honestly just waste anyone's time. I'm just getting my arcade off the ground and I have a 43" ultrawide marquee (Sceptre brand 43.8", highly recommend it for the price if you have a large arcade), so I've created a few video marquees that are 2880x1080 pixels. I plan to create a lot more as I go along. I've tried to create them so that they loop around on themselves, but I don't know what the optimal length of each video should be? Some are one minute in length, some are shorter. I've uploaded to YouTube so people can see and gauge any interest. If the size is too awkward, length is too long, etc. I can try to adjust the videos to fit some kind of agreed-upon community guidelines if there are any. Here's what I've created so far:

    Namco System 357:

    Nintendo Entertainment System:

    Neo Geo AVS

    Sega Genesis:

    PC Games:

I don't like calling my Platform Steam/Windows or anything of that sort, and prefer the broader title "PC Games"

This isn't a platform, but a playlist, but I'll include it here as well:

    Contra Collection:

  13. This was a fun project that took far longer than it should have. Kind of hard balancing hobbies now with an 8month old!

Built this for a friend after he really liked my 2-player cabinet at home. I said if we are building another one, let’s make it 4-player! This project featured a lot of firsts for me. My first cabinet featured an X-Arcade for the joysticks and had just some ordinary plexiglass covering the monitor, two things I definitely didn’t want to do again. So, I fabricated a box covering the 32” TV inside of it and did some router work on it to make it look halfway decent. Made several mistakes along the way, plenty of things I would change, but overall he was happy with it and so was I.

Systems in LaunchBox: arcade, nes, snes, Nintendo 64, gb, gbc, gba, PlayStation, masterdrive, genesis, sega cd, 32x, game gear, and Dreamcast.

All console and handheld games controlled with Xbox controllers attached to the sides, all arcade games controlled with arcade panel.

You are a king, sir, and I'm an idiot. God only knows how I kept searching out all of this information and didn't find out that my version of the emulator wasn't the latest. Yeesh. Sorry, again, for my stupidity, hopefully somehow I'll find a way to actually contribute to this awesome community!

It sounds like the easiest thing for you to do is just use the standalone MAME for Arcade, and just use Retroarch for everything else. Changing to standalone emulators for all the systems Retroarch does, in order to still use MAME in retroarch seems a strange way around of doing things to me.

And you are not wrong, man. Not at all. This is just my first go-around with Launchbox and even Retroarch (outside of making a few Raspberry Pi builds in the past), so I'm learning as I go. I spent waaaayyyy too much time configuring mame in Retroarch before deciding on this control panel + joypad configuration. Beginning with a 0.78 romset, finding there were games that I wanted that weren't working when that romset was created, then bastardizing my collection with various roms and toying with different cores until everything just seemed to work. It's an unfortunate house of cards type of configuration that I'm afraid to mess with any further out of fear I'll destroy the whole thing, lol. It's a Frankenmame collection, but it seems to work and I'll keep knocking on wood. When I find a good source and can get a nice, uniform, and updated Mame collection going, I'll probably mess with it again.

  15. I'm curious which version you tried, because at this point I'll go for it. I'm desperate for a "start in fullscreen" checkbox at this point, haha!

I have VisualBoyAdvance-M v 2.0.0, and under Options > Video there is only a "Select fullscreen mode..." option here and it does not allow you to auto-start in fullscreen, nor open games in fullscreen. The options refer to color depth, device, resolution, and refresh rate. At this point, I'm willing to lose pause menu options in favor of simply an emulator that remains fullscreen with few issues. I found KIGB works well for all GB systems except the Gameboy Advance. So, worst case scenario, I may scrap GBA from this setup until some point in the future.

I tried the AHK, but unfortunately received this error:

    "Error at line 2.

    Line Text: T >> ESC =
    Error: Invalid hotkey.

    The program will exit."

Thinking on it now though, I'm unsure a AHK will solve my problem completely as I'm hoping to have this system without a mouse or keyboard and solely controlled by the joysticks and joypads in the future.

    I've also tried the original VisualBoyAdvance v 1.8.0-beta 3.

I gave VisualBoyAdvance Link v. 1.8.0 a shot as well, but unable to find an option that helps.

Also tried BatGBA 2.24b, but found no permanent fullscreen option.

Thank you so much for the reply and consideration!

  16. Hello all, just looking to see if anyone has an answer to a problem I've had. I'm new to Launchbox and trying to put something together for a friend. The long story is that I began my Launchbox adventure attempting to build a system simply with Retroarch, but when I decided I wanted arcade games to play with an arcade control panel but have console and handheld games control with joypads, I found it difficult (if not impossible) to configure it in a way that would see various cores use various controllers in the Player 1 position. So, instead I split things up into various emulators instead. For simplicity on the user, I've decided to only use emulators that have been found to work with Launchbox's pause menu (using the main Googledoc as a reference: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wuGiwg8I5QqulDncQvGBZP83BVDSXpbSOzdYqDrsCxI/edit#gid=1650496698).

So, for Gameboy and various nintendo handhelds, VisualBoyAdvance-M is the recommended emulator, but unfortunately I am having great difficulty finding a way to make this program open in fullscreen and stay that way. I've tried exiting a game in fullscreen with alt+f4, and although this causes the next game to open in fullscreen - once you escape from a game in Launchbox, you're back to a small window.

I've tried using -f-4, and even grasping at straws and using -fullscreen and such within command line parameters, but this simply gives me an error.

Would autohotkey provide any potential results? Is there a resource that I could learn more about this?

Also, I hope this is the right section to be asking! Thanks for anyone's time or recommendations.
