I've been getting this error when using the automatic storefront updates checkbox turned on, every time I launch LB since v13.8, and is still present in v13.9 beta 1.

I've also reported the bug through the regular channels. Unchecking the box seems to prevent the error for now.
Thanks,Rod

OK. I know I'm going to get a load of people telling me this isn't happening but it definitely is.
It began with BigBox, every time I closed it, my wireless mouse wouldn't work and I had to unplug and reattach the USB receiver to get it going again.
However, since yesterday when Launchbox is open, I get periodic (every 20mins or so) User Account Control requests to open a particular program (it was MusicBee, to the point I uninstalled it, now it's another program). Also, my mouse is randomly stopping and my (wireless Logitech) keyboard acts as though the ctrl button is pressed (this is solved by ctrl+alt+del and simply exiting again), but these things ONLY HAPPEN while Launchbox is open.
I can provide any more info you need, but this is very irritating as it happens while I am running emulators too.
I know this is an old post - but I thought I'd mention I have the exact same problem with usb attached devices, after a while running Launchbox my mouse and keyboard (keyboard especially) don't function properly. Only occurs after Launchbox has been running for a while, and only fix is to reboot my machine as even unplugging/replugging doesn't seem to fix it when it occurs. Its difficult to reproduce as it is not predictable what is causing it but it is for sure only when the program is running.

- New Feature: LaunchBox can now downloaded bezels for both MAME and RetroArch, during import and media downloads (courtesy of the Bezel Project)
For this one, how does one add bezels for already configured Retroarch emulator/games already imported?

Can you do the following for me:
Go to Tools > Options and turn on Debug Logging (if not already). Then a few times just select a game, then press CTRL+E, wait for the Add/Edit window to show, then hit cancel. Open and close the window 3 or 4 times, then close LaunchBox and see me the log file produced. I'll review see if there anything obvious going on in that. Here you go. I tried editing/closing after switching between two titles, but also tried opening/closing the edit dialog on the same game as well.
-
The latter for sure. After clicking 'edit metadata/media' in the context dialog box it disappears relatively quickly (and game details clears), but after that I see a spinning mouse cursor wheel for quite some time before the edit game metadata properties box actually appears. I should mention though that it seems quite slow to refresh the game details when highlighting between different individual titles as well, but once the game details populates navigating the context menu seems to be ok until I try to bring up the edit metadata/media, like mentioned above.
-
Correct. The context menu pop up is reasonable. It’s just when actually trying to open the edit dialog box itself to change metadata.
-
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but when right-clicking on a title, and clicking to edit game metadata/media it takes a long time for the menu to appear to edit the details. Its been like this for some time I was hoping with newer version releases it would have been improved but so far it only seems to have gotten worse. Tried CTRL-E shortcut and same problem.
I was using 12.11 and recently upgraded to 12.12 beta 2 (but has had this issue for many version back now).
It takes upwards of 15-20 seconds or longer for the Edit games properties window to appear.

You don't have to mess with the shortcuts, just make sure
- signed in and BattleNet running or it will just go to the launch screen but not actually run the game
- that your application path for the game is pointed to the Battle.net.exe
- root folder is set correctly to C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net (assuming standard C drive install)
- that you use the game specific code (first page ones still work) and place in Application Command-Line Parameters field.
See example below:
For all Blizzard Games change Update Application Path and Root Folder (example shown in snapshot is for Diablo II Resurrection):
Application Path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net.exe
Root Folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net
Then the game specific items are same as listed on first page:
Application Command Line- Parameters for Diablo Resurrection:
--exec="launch OSI"
Application Command Line- Parameters for Diablo III:
--exec="launch D3"
Application Command Line-Parameters for Overwatch:
--exec="launch Pro"
This seems to work well to launch the game, but is there a way to keep the launcher hidden when opening the game (as it seems to come to the foreground)? And same with exiting once the game closes it just sits at the launcher instead of returning attention to Launchbox/Bigbox.....
-
No, I did not... not sure why this happens still...
-
Hmm well I’m using 11.12 beta 6 and it was still happening, I ran a scan last night and when I checked this morning had the same message and 2000+ errors.
-
I have this same issue...
-
Thanks just tested again looks like it’s working ok now!

-
Still having this issue, was hoping perhaps someone had a suggestion...
-
Message to Jason Carr if he is checking this forum... or perhaps LordMonkus if you see this and can pass the note along..
Is it possible to change the behavior of the above error dialog from completely quitting launchbox to allowing user input to at least 'Retry' the file/folder save attempt, or cancel/abort the job so the entire application isn't quitting out and having to be reopened again when this happens? When you have thousands of files to load media for and have to start over at the very beginning again and again it becomes very frustrating.
I'm convinced my disk isn't the problem from everything I've checked and have yet to solve this issue, but at least being able to retry the job without starting again might help in the meantime for folks that hit this problem.
Thanks,
Rod

I've been having difficulty getting my media to update, I keep getting an error message like the one below, and then rather than giving me an option of retrying, Launchbox just quits. However the file/folder is set to Full Control for all users and I can navigate to and access the path no problem through windows explorer. I thought maybe it was a power management issue (maybe putting the device to sleep - so I disabled everything like this in the power settings) but it still occurred while actively being monitored. I tried running Launchbox as administrator as well just in case, but no dice.
I didn't have this issue until I updated recently to the newest versions of Launchbox (11.8) not sure if that has anything to do with it. The drive is locally connected on a USB 3.0 port with a drive enclosure. I ran disk scans/checks all came up clean (so I'm doubtful its a failing disk as the error suggests). I also refreshed the file and folder permissions again on the entire folder structure to be sure, yet it still happens (takeown/icacls, etc.).
I do have the paths for the media saved in this folder as I have it shared out for a few computers to access in my home network. So far it has occurred in different folders with the same error message, I even tried deleting them completely as they come up but I keep seeing new ones (this is the 3rd one so far).

Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if there is some kind of workaround to prevent it.
Specifically, I'm finding that after launching a game, doesn't matter the platform/emulator... while it's running if I left or right-click anywhere it kicks back to the Launchbox screen with the 'Game Over' background, but the emulator is still running (I didn't press anything or type 'ESC' to get out).Has anyone else seen this? I don't want to completely disable mouse support as some emulators/games need it, but I also don't want clicking on something to return back to LB either, it should only do this when I press the quit key, whatever it is set to.
-
Weird I went to edit an existing game, then it prompted me to download updated Metadata, now the import seems to be working again..... Would this set have just been added to the Metadata recently?

Thanks, as mentioned in my note I was aware of the workaround to turn it off to fix which I have done, but wanted to report the issue.
