Should only require the rom and the support file. Test in Mame directly. The other games you imported work if launched from LaunchBox correct?

    Ok

    FINALLY got it working

Deleted all files and reinstalled roms and it works

    Cheers everyone for their assistance

Good advice by Retro808, but Superman.zip and cchip.zip haven’t changed since Mame 0.196, so anything relativity new should work. (Technically 0.188 since it used cchip emulation before)

If any future issues running specific  Mame games, from a command prompt with the verbose option will can tell  what files you are missing and where Mame is looking for it.

    mame -v superman

(You have to be in the directory where Mame is located. If you need assistance, just ask.)

Have you got some instuctions I can follow? Am I to open the cmd window first?

For sure you can get the games you want to work, and if the hunt is something you like by all means. It was something I did not mind doing in the past. Heck the hunting gave me a lot of things to read and learn from

    Okay

I just tested in Mame.exe directly and its telling me its missing files - although Im not entirely sure which. I have the CChip in my roms folder unzipped

Yeah the other games work fine. I even downloaded another game to test if it was something else and that gave loaded without an issue

Very very rue, but that was more of a generalized recommendation since lots of roms remain unchanged. Seen way to many users here spend hours trying to chase down support files, or even good roms since some of these sites not only have old roms, but crap ones that do not work. Not anything I know you do not already know. I would rather recommend to a user up front to spend the little bit of time downloading a known rom set and work off of that then have someone spend unnecessary hours chasing files. Would have loved to have had that advice when I got into this long ago. .

I’ve had to chase down extra files that were missing from quite a few of my roms

Even the more preferred sites had missing stuff. I remember Double Dragon and the Neo Geo roms especially missing stuff

It wasn’t so bad though - I kinda enjoyed trying to track down the files and getting them to finally work

This Superman issue is a new one though. Never had it just not load before

Make sure you have the cchip.zip rom also.

    (It's a Taito TC0030CMD (C-Chip) device file needed)

    Many thanks!

I’ve downloaded the cchip and added it to my rom files but no dice  - do I need to add it via the LB tools>add roms sequence akso?

also tried extracting the file itself and placing it into the Superman folder

(did that with other bios to get neo geo roms to work in the past)

Thanks @Rags2Rickius. I've removed that score. Unfortunately every once in a blue moon, the MAME high scores system seems to get corrupted, and this happens. We will be reaching out to see if there's anything we can do about that.

I guess when you saw the score that would’ve instantly told you that was incorrect lol

I don’t think anyone at all could get a score like that without getting to some kind of kill screen

Hello folks, I'm looking for a racing arcade game from the ages of 90'. I already did a research but I can't found it. Even I saw videos like "1000 best race arcade games MAME", etc without success.

    Data I remember are:

    • It was a Arcade Game, with the cabinet (steering, throttle, etc)
    • 3D game for sure.
    • It was kind of "Dakar" style
    • I think after each race ,there was a option to improve your car, like the speed.
    • Most similar game that I found was "Dirt Devils" from Sega. It looks like this, but I'm 100% that is not.
    • First level or one of the level, was on a dust field.
    • The car looked very light, not sure how the name is, but is something like (car color was white/red mainly)
    •  sand-cars.jpg

Do you remember which game I'm talking about. It was around 20 years ago, probably it was a dream ?

    thanks in advance.

It wasn’t Buggy Heat was it?

    @RagzZ

For MAME builds later than 0.200 you need the device qsound_hle.zip containing the file dl-1425.bin

If you can't source it, check your MAME romset for qsound.zip and see if it contains the dl-1425.bin file.
If it does then make a copy of qsound.zip and rename it to qsound_hle.zip
I believe that qsound.zip is now obsolete but it's no harm to keep it.

    Cheers for this

I found that exact file online from a comment on Reddit - games work fine now :)

It's most likely a file that would be inside either the rom file or a bios or parent rom required for the game to work.

I know. I’ve been trying to load two particular games that require this file.
All the rom sets I’ve tried are lacking this particular file

Although it’s been recommended I go to archive.org to obtain most roms for mame so I’ll try there next
