Some Platform Clear Logos Won't Change / Change Back
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
This is still an issue for me. Using Colorful Theme. I am avoiding Beta versions since I'm new to Launchbox and emulation as a whole. Is this still something only resolved in the Beta despite the recent update? What's strange is that it still pulls a non-existent file back into the BB-cache folder. Under "Clear Logo", I only have the silver ring logo. I go in and delete the old logo from the BB-Cache folder. I even empty the Recycle Bin and restart the machine for good measure. Then I start up Big Box, and I watch the files reappear in the BB-Cache folder. Is it pulling Clear Logos from somewhere else maybe? -
Some Platform Clear Logos Won't Change / Change Back
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
Just did that. Now a bunch more of them broke. LOL -
I've been using Silver Ring logos as my clear logos for platforms. This should be simple enough, but I must be doing something wrong. In LB, I change the Clear Logo to the Silver Ring version I downloaded here. When I go into BB and scroll through the platforms, the old clear logo appears instead. When this occurs, I delete the old clear logo from the cache, and that fixes it. Except, for the last three platforms, that didn't work. The old clear logo versions keep coming back, even when they're deleted from the cache folder and the clear logo folder. What gives?

I might just try your txt file idea and give that a go. Thanks!

Stuck At 1% Updating Core Info Files [Retroarch]
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
I thought I saw a years old post that mentioned this and thought I would give the dolphin core a try to see how it progressed. Still, for future's sake, I'd like to make sure retroarch is running properly on my end and able to update. Is it common for Retroarch to freeze up at 1-2%? -
I'd love to see my entire game collection in one place, even if it can't be launched from LB/BB. Would it be possible to pull metadata and have my PS4 / Xbox One games appear in launchbox platform without having any actual files for it to import?
-
Hey Guys, Dolphin didn't appear on my core list in retroarch. I looked it up and found that this can be resolved by updating core info files under Core Updater. Unfortunately it's stuck at 1% and I'm not sure what to do to resolve this? Has anyone experienced this? I've tried multiple times now. Any ideas?

Thanks to you guys, I've been able to get pretty comfortable with importing all my cart based games. ❤️ Moving up in the timeline, I'm now working on Sega CD, and BIOS required games have always intimidated me. The changing file structure was also a curveball, and now I have a few questions, if some of you awesome peeps don't mind taking the time to help me with... Sega CD Questions... 1. I have both .cue and .bin files packaged inside of .zip files. Using older tutorial videos, I learned to extract these files and only import the .cue files. However, what was not made clear is whether or not the location of the .bin files matters? Since the .cue files are only 1KB, I'm assuming they're reliant on the .bin file they reference? So technically, shouldn't both of them be in the Launchbox Games folder for portability's sake? 2. If it's allowed, can you please direct me to a source you like for BIOS files? If not, how current should they be? I found an extremely old BIOS file for Sega CD, but wasn't sure it was safe due to its age. 3. Where should I download a BIOS file to? Is there a specific destination folder?

I was just coming back to ask about whether the emulator was the same and where Gameboy was in the associated list. You rock! \m/ Thank you!

That was the noobery solution. LOL! Working now. I initially had it correct when importing the files. But, scraping as "Nintendo Gameboy Color" would only pull the metadata for GBC specific titles and not any of the regular Gameboy titles. I changed it to scrape as Gameboy thinking that choosing GBC was wrong. I think I'll stick to the noob section for a bit. ? Thanks for taking the time to help me out on both counts.

Sorry, I should have been clearer... Launchbox recognizes the Gambatte core is installed, but Gameboy games still crash when launched. If I launch via retroarch, I am presented with an option between Gambatte and Atari800 to launch the game. I select Gambatte and the game launches just fine.
-
LOL Thanks for the help! Fixed! I guess I should have posted that in the noob section after all. Didn't know the associated platforms list had drop down menus. If you don't mind, while we are here, I just discovered Gambette isn't launching games though LB/BB either (it launched via retroarch directly just fine). Except, this time, the core is not listed as missing. Retroarch does suggest an Atari core along with Gambette. Is there a noobery solution I don't know about there too?

Hey Guys, I'm a noob, but I'm posting here because I see Mupen64 has some quirks in its history here. Not sure how to proceed with troubleshooting. I have just discovered that none of my games will launch using Mupen64Plus-Next. When I try to, it just crashes back to Launchbox/Bigbox. Launchbox recommends using the Mupen64Plus core, but only Mupen64Plus-Next was available. Launchbox says the core is missing, but retroarch says the core is installed (See images below) I did find a year old post here where someone discovered the issue was auto-save state and auto load states needed to be turned off in retroarch. But, that didn't didn't resolve my issues. Is this the correct core to use? Would it cause any harm/conflict to download the other cores too?

BigBox Graphical Glitching v11.3-11.6 *Solved - Page 3*
CyberOcelot replied to neosean99's topic in Troubleshooting
Confirmed here too! Fixed it for me! I was talking about the same issue in the Noobs section and was redirected here. Thank you, Kimjongilist!!!!! -
This did it!! FIXED! Thank you SO MUCH! I'll go ahead and post there to confirm it worked for me. When I searched the forum, didn't think to search for "graphical" or "Glitch". Sorry for the redundant thread here. Thought it was just me!

Thanks for trying to help me out. That wild stab does reveal some info I failed to share, actually. But, I still have the issue, unfortunately. I installed VLC after seeing this checkbox in the options. I'm running VLC at default. When I went back to double check after reading your post, VLC was not checked anymore. I switched it back. The issue persists. BUT, when I checked playback again this time around, I was able to catch the playback flicker from the correct resolution to the wrong resolution and back (I'll edit the video into this post in just a moment). I haven't tested other themes because I don't fully understand how that works yet, and don't want to muck things up for troubleshooting purposes. I also recently made a HUGE upgrade to my TV, so I checked my GPU video settings, and it was set to 1080p instead of 4K resolution, so I fixed that. But, it still didn't resolve the issue. Are there any settings changes I need to make on the VLC side, maybe? 20200927_153004.mp4

Sorry to bump, but now I'm wondering if this is a bug? Anyone familiar with this issue? I saw a random mention of a similar issue to mine by a themes creator in his download instructions while browsing. I'm using Big Box on big screen TV (16:9) Video playback works great if I change it to full screen background. But of course, that looks terrible. Any advice or info appreciated. TIA

How To Properly Separate Multiple PC Clients in Big Box?
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
*Facepalm I'm a dummy. Didn't even think of that functionality being available when looking at the games list. LOL! Thanks for the clarification! -
I tried researching solutions for this, but couldn't find anything. One day, it briefly fixed itself, but has otherwise produced the same results every time. It's got to be something on my end of course, but haven't found anything in options menu that can help. Any ideas how I can get this sorted? Here's a link to a video. I captured video recording the screen, so please excuse the quality.

How To Properly Separate Multiple PC Clients in Big Box?
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
I've gone ahead and changed the platform in each line to "GOG" but no "Scrape As" option. After importing, it's not listed under "Computers" anymore. What would be the proper method to import GOG then? Side note: All the other clients are ready to go, thanks to you. I meant that, when presented with the list of games in the importer, right clicking only allows me to change the value per line/game, but does not change the platform for all the games that are checked in the list. But, considering I didn't get the intended result doing that, I'm assuming I'm not propely importing GOG games? -
How To Properly Separate Multiple PC Clients in Big Box?
CyberOcelot replied to CyberOcelot's topic in Noobs
Thanks again, Neil9000! I just tested importing with GOG games as you instructed, since that client has the least amount of games for me. The wizard only presents an option to rename the platform on a per game basis (Which would take forever to do individually). So I allowed it to import the games as Windows, but then edited the platform to read "GOG" and kept the "Scrape As" as Windows. I'm assuming it's still OK if I rename the platform as described here AFTER the import process is completed? -
My goal at the moment is to have each client (Steam, Epic Games, Origin, etc...) separate on Big Box (instead of having them all under "Windows" by default. I initially thought the best approach to accomplish this was to make each client it's own platform, and that works. But, I get the warning pictured below. Am I doing this wrong? Is there a better method? The warning box tells me to separate them in categories instead, but when I do this, I can only get them to appear if I change the view to "Sources", and that doesn't really look as good as separating them as platforms. Any ideas?
