Had the same issue on android, my fix was using mupen64plus_next_gles3_libretro_android.so core for the emulator. Then inside the Retroarch system folder you need to create the Directory Mupen64Plus if it is not there already and inside that folder you need to add the file mupen64plus.ini which could be downloaded from here https://github.com/mupen64plus/mupen64plus-core/blob/master/data/mupen64plus.ini The .ini file is what mupen64 needs to get the games going since it is like a game database for the core. Once that file is in with the gles3 core it will work on whatever android device.
