This happened to me again during trying to install the newest beta, so while it may be a PC issue, it may also be an issue worth looking into. Once again the dlls in the Core folder it could not seem to replace, forcing me to cancel the installation of the new version, and just like last time, I can no longer open Launchbox. I successfully updated to the newer version with the last update, yet this one did the same thing as version 3. Any ideas what could be happening here?

Fyi, this was once again fixed by restarting my PC a couple times and eventually it worked.
I did some testing into this and it appears to be related to the automatic closing process of an update. It is not properly closing Launchbox or something of that nature, despite not being in the system tray or running, there will still be a singular launchbox buried deep in my Task Manager that isn't using any resources, for some reason. The installer doesn't seem to actually fully close Launchbox essentially, resulting in errors. This is my guess, anyway, as doing a fresh restart of my computer where launchbox is never opened first is the only way I've fixed the issue before and now. Maybe some useful info to give to the dev team for recreating the issue?

Answer what? The users was able to get up and running. Might not have been a LB issue. Could have been something specific to his pc.

After trying to update to the new beta version of Launchbox, I got an error saying it cannot remove the "Accessibility.dll". It repeats this for every dll file in the Core folder it seems. I cancelled the installation because of this, it said it rolled back, however I can no longer launch Launchbox now. It does the startup loading bar then instantly closes, Launchbox never actually starts. I tried going into the update folder to rollback to the last beta, however the exact same issue happened, unable to remove/replace the dll files. I've never had this issue before. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? I will provide a picture of the error pop up tomorrow if needed.

So after several more attempts, several times restarting my PC, and still trying to rollback to a previous update, it finally worked and my launchbox is opening again, I rolled back to Update 13.2 successfully this time, for some reason. That said, no idea what caused this still or why it suddenly worked now, so if anyone has any ideas I would love to know to avoid that kind of thing in the future. Thank you!

Ah okay, thanks! Any idea where to find said ID for games as well so I can point it in the right path? Some of these games I have on family share, so the Import from Steam function does not work, hence why I was using the executable directly.

Never mind! Found I can find the IDs by using the URL on the Steam store pages for the games. It now works and displays the badge properly! If there is a better way to find the IDs though, lemme know!

For the badge and other Steam features to work within LB you're application path should be "steam://rungameid/<SteamAppId>" (without quotes). Pointing to the executable directly will bypass a lot of the logic we do in app for Steam titles.

Steam badge should show if the application path is a steam path, same with Uplay. Origin is a bit different and requires two hidden fields to be set so those would have to be deleted and then re-imported. There is currently no way to manually assign a badge.

Sorry to bump a super old thread, but my games are in a steam path yet are not showing up with the Steam badge. When I imported the game, I accidentally used a different file for launching, so I just fixed it and used the exe in my steamapps common etc. However after fixing that, I see that I still don't have the Steam badge on said game. Is there any way we can get the feature in the future to manually add what badges we want to games? Would fix any headaches with stuff like this

Was able to replicate the report and have a code change in place that will be in the next beta release. Right now there isn't a real solid work around unfortunately.

Thats okay, hope you're feeling better! As long as that update is comin I can deal with it a bit longer haha. Thanks for looking at it

  9. Whenever I click the additional documents files now, it just doesn't launch anything. Nothing happens. I updated to 13.10 but still doesn't work. This is in Big Box, and I am on Windows 11. Even when I set "Use Emulator option" in Launchbox, it doesn't work. Here's an example. Both PDF and CBZ files do not work. This is with the In Program PDF Viewer turned off. When it is turned on, it will load PDFs but not CBZ files. Built in PDF viewer still works, but only for PDF files and not CBZs. (I don't want to use the built in anyway since I have a program I use for viewing pdfs and cbz files.)
This problem didn't use to exist. Would be really helpful if fixed! (Also, is there a way to have Additional Documents be sorted under Additional Apps? It would look better for sorting. Thanks!)

In your \Updates folder are the installers of the prior versions you have used. Just run that installer over top your build. It will not mess up any settings.

Note: Make sure you look at the install folder location before you execute the operation. Confirm it is not pointing the install to a \Launchbox\Launchbox folder. It should only be \Launchbox.

Thanks! Managed to roll back to the previous version
Also if I may ask, when it gets fixed could the Additional Documents tab be sorted right under the Additional Apps tab? Looks kinda strange for Additional Apps to be right under the Play button but Additional Documents to be all the way down after View Achievements haha

  11. Hello, it seems ever since the update that added the option to view Additional Documents, I no longer can use any Additional Apps. Additional Documents shows up and even still has my pdf and cbz files, etc, but Additional Apps is completely gone. It is turned on in my settings and the theme specific settings, I tried turning it on and off again, tried changing themes, tried taking out some additional apps and putting them back in, but still nothing. Is this a bug that will be fixed in a future beta release? Or is there something I can do to fix it? Please let me know, as the feature is one I use very very commonly with my titles!
Also if it helps, the Additional Apps options still shows up in Launchbox, but once I go into Big Box it is no longer there.
Here is a screenshot of a game where I have a couple additional apps, and a couple additional documents, such as an art book cbz file. The documents show up, but not the apps. Any idea why?
For reference, a lot of the Additional Apps are video files, if that makes a difference. For example with this game, I have some tournament matches in the Additional Apps section, and for another game I have clips of me and my friends playing as Additional Apps. Let me know!

UPDATE: I have gotten them to show up, but only if I check mark the "Use Emulator" option and choose an emulator. Obviously, that doesn't work if its a video file or an exe file, since it doesn't use an emulator. I assume this is a bug because of that, but let me know if there's any fixes or settings I'm missing. Screenshot2023-11-2723-23-43.thumb.png.8a55f00d4de850ca2596d20b5a175eb6.pngScreenshot2023-11-2723-16-08.thumb.png.f02cae6db3d74913dd592953a3a10a4e.png

Still not seeing how alt-tab or (if using Win11) swapping virtual desktop wouldn't already give you the ability to do what you want.

    I'm on Windows 11
I more mean as a convenience option, while it is true I can technically use virtual desktop or Windows + D for example, I often have many other programs open, not just Big Box, since I have multiple monitors and use different things. As far as I can tell, both of these options essentially minimize all the other programs and things I have open, and for virtual desktop, creates a new one with none of the things open, but I can switch between the two
Those are great options and I appreciate the suggestion, I will use them
But convenience wise it would just be great to be able to minimize the program and bring it back up as an option itself or from the taskbar with right click options, so that it doesn't effect anything else I'm doing or have running. I do not know if Big Box runs in exclusive fullscreen, but maybe a borderless fullscreen option would work for this? I'm not sure what would need to be changed for an option like that myself
Its just an option that would be great if its not a massive undertaking to create, I wouldn't know if it is or not though

You can still do other things. The app itself just doesn't have a built in minimize process. Pressing Windows + D for example still minimizes it and brings you to the desktop. You can also Alt + Tab to another application, so I'm not entirely sure I'm following your logic.

Ah my bad for not specifying
Wasn't aware of the Windows + D option so thank you! That said, I think it would still be awesome to have the ability to minimize Big Box in the settings itself, perhaps even tied to a controller mapping of your choice in Mapping settings.
I have multiple monitors, and also, I use Big Box often on my TV as a way to play games on my TV rather than sitting at my desk often (it starts to hurt my back after a while), so an option to minimize Big Box only and not all programs, would be really great for both reasons
