Kraventhegrunter

I'm having issues using my arcade controls in game. I've mapped the controls, they work great for the menu, however when I launch a game the controls only seem to fast forward and rewind the game. I went into retroarch adjusted the controller configuration, I get the same issue. I uninstalled retroarch, reinstalled it.... Same problem. I even downloaded a completely different version of retroarch and still have the same problem. Can someone help me with this please? Thanks
