Was doesn't make much sense seeing as his channel is mainly reselling HS, why he reacted to LB is the question.
I completely agree, this man's behavior is bizarre.
My immediate first thought upon reading his e-mails to Jason was: "This is a guy who posted an error report or a feature request and was brushed off by the mod team and is now looking for an excuse to 'wage war' with the LaunchBox community."
That's just the conspiracy theorist in me, though. -

So Jason and Shawn knew each other? they were friends before?. I'm kinda confused.
I don't think they know each other in meatspace nor do I think they were ever friends. Shaw is a software... I mean, he's a pirate yes, but he's more of a software dealer, undercutting the list price of software packages (seemingly primarily frontends) by selling them for cheap on the black market. Like a "Loaded Kodi Firestick" dealer. For whatever reason, he believes LaunchBox users are attacking his business, and he's threatening to sell his own purchased Big Box keys as a result.

No one is saying that at all, in fact if you knew or saw what happens sometimes in private you would be surprised at what we tell Jason not to do and we voice our opinions very loudly to him.
Then perhaps rethink your rhetoric, because that is the message being sent. I am not the only one reading posts this way.

I think... I think Jason played right into Shaw's hands. He's pissed off a certain amount of his own userbase, created strife between longtime community members, and has sent to (evidently) 250k people some rather... uncouth dialog on his own part. Dialog which is *not* going to do him favors winning over any new customers from the PC gaming and emulation scene. I care enough about the people here and about LaunchBox that I was coming to fight for it, but I think this e-mail was poor strategy. I also think the response from many in this thread towards those with dissenting opinions is appalling. There's a very clear theme here of "Take Jason's Side or Leave." It's an attitude which I personally feel has been growing on the forums for some months (which is a shame, because it's the attitude taken up by Team-Kodi and similar projects, and not having that attitude is what used to set LB apart from the rest of the pack). You don't have to come right out and say those exact words for the message to get across. And not a single person sending that message is being clever about hiding it, either.
As for Shaw, he's an obvious scumbag... but I have to wonder if he can't "seriously do any major damage" what the point of this essay was.

identical titles could be confusing in big box?
This is one reason why I go to the trouble of editing my BB themes to display platform and publisher/developer logos in the game wheel. The other being different versions of the same game which use the same artwork across platforms. It allows me to determine which specific game I'm viewing at a glance. Theme developers might want to keep these situations in mind in the future.

The favorites and recent games will show when using the default theme and if a custom theme supports it, the screen shots above are using the default theme.
The "letter selection" is brought up by pressing left on the keyboard or controller, I think this is in all themes.
It could be Down depending on the view.

@Liam That is a good point; I don't think it's currently possible to display custom fields individually. We should look into that.
I don't suppose custom fields were ever looked at?
Edit: Anybody know of a way to draw a random Box Front from games within a playlist?

I would say the best option would be a list where you can add the words you would like to ignore.
This is the right idea. This would even help with mid-title article sorting (for instance: Paper Mario: *The* Thousand-Year Door).

I don't think LaunchBox itself provides downloads for music themes. Are you using a legit version of the program?

Current thought: it would be really nice for metadata tags (like different Genres) could have their own metadata and be sorted into Platform Categories as if they were playlists. Kind of a bother to have to create a playlist for a genre if I want that genre to have a description and artwork...

omg what is that skin

Shouldn't "refresh all images" after changing themes fix the issue?

Remember that just because you have the space doesn't mean you're obligated to fill it up. Keep it around and use it for the things you really care about collecting

Playlist notes in details panel. When I click on a playlist, the details panel is empty. Why does it not display the playlist notes in LB?
I would like this very much.

I imagine Life of Pixel would be pretty nice on an arcade setup. And MUGEN, of course (and its various community projects).

Play Tales of Symphonia, there's a meaningful backstabbing after almost every major turning point in the story (one of which you actually get a hand in manipulating. Based on previous actions you've taken in the game, one of a pair of party members will betray you).
-
I was playing around in Big Box earlier and realized that a way to map a key to change the current sort order would be pretty nice.

A while back I was working on this theme to go along with my Kodi setup. It's supposed to resemble the Estuary skin, so the transition from Kodi to Big Box would be just that much more seamless. Unfortunately I didn't realize how different from the basic Estuary the Estuary Mod skin is, so since I've changed to Estuary Mod I don't have much desire to work on this anymore. Somebody else can finish it if they'd like to. Someday I might come back to this and dabble here or there, but that doesn't seem very likely. I'm not really good at any of this stuff, so the files are all kind of a mess. Anyway...

Thank you very much, man. I tried to do it myself but I must have screwed something up because I keep getting "BigBox.exe does not exist" in my second instance. In the meanwhile I've tricked Steam Launcher into doing the task (though doing it this way doesn't close Kodi), so take your time.

I know this is a niche situation, but right now I'm using two installs of Big Box for different things. Would it be too much trouble to ask you to go through and adjust some things so that I can have two instances of the add-on within Kodi?
