Final update, can close thread, thanks you so much for the help. My issue was, half the time I typed the path in the installer, th eother half I clocked BROWSE, and yes It added the extra launchbox to the path but just had to delete it. Now it instyaled intot he old folder perfectly and now it is able to update through the app as normal.

**13.17**

Hi again, I hear ya, I did not copy the files over top. However that is my issue. If I choose the same install folder, it is for some reason creatingf new subfolder. SO I chose d:\launchbox\'and it actually create a new folder d:\launchbox\launchbox and installs a fresh empty copy there. Is this expected behavior or a problem with this installer for this version 3.17?
-
Oh my, I might look stupdi here, I did not really try to install into root drive, but I tried because I thought the instaler would add the \Launchbox tom the base root I typed in, I have seen other installers that behave this way for various softwares. I like to keep alot of key apps right in d:\APPNAME for alot of things ^^ cheers

Actually, I have not yet overwritten my old installation, the installer wuld not let me it wrote it elsewhere each time. I stopped at this point to ask advice, if I can just many overwrite all the files froma fresh install or that could cause issues. Thank you for reply, you are saying I should go ahead and copy the new files over top, I will do that now and cross fingers. I suspected this was safe but I wanted ot be sure.

Also I will add, I have it set to check for updates at launch and auto update, and this does not hapen at all, no notice or anything when launch the Launchbox

Here is hte erorr if anyone smart can help out with error. When I search for update it finds it, then I get error when I click DOWQNLOAD/ :Lauinchbox has an error blah. Currently it is in d:\launchbox folder all myt stuff portable all roms inside there too. VEry annoying situation, Iconfusing too. The 13.11 version. When i try to auto update I get an erorr it fails. I thought I would download new installer and trying to install over top. Is that a wrong way to do? Weirdest behavior, I explain. D:\Launchbox is where it is. If I try to install new version to d:\Launchbox it instead goes to d:\launchbox\launchbox If I try to install to d: it is not allowed, makes sense I bet. So O moved all my stuff into d:\launchbox\launchbox, my full build. Now I chose to install into d:\Launchbox\ and NOW it actually does install to d:\llaunchbox, again an empty folder and not updating. Would installing overtop totally break it? Could I just copy all the new launchbox folder overtop my old instalationmanualy or will that mean havoc? Alternately, should I just craft a new Lauchbox folder, then copy all my roms/images/videos etc into the fresh install and let the fresh instal detect everything? OUwld I maintain all setitngs htis way like ame high score is loggedf in, emumovies is logged in, etc etc?

I had the same issue. HOwever, when I go ito mame options,VIDEO, there are only 2 settings, neither of them let me change windowed or full screen. Neither did going to tools>manage emulators> then I added -window to the command line in launchbox not working. Finally I did edit the mame.ini file in the mame root directory and set window to 1 rather than zero. This finally fixed it. If anyone reads this, do the opposite if u want ful screen, set it to 0 For the record, I am using the base command line mame.exe, maybe this is why I had no video options in mame itself. The screenshot of the guy in an earlier post did not match my mame video setting at all.

Yes this is true, I sorte dmy own roms manually 1 by 1, but I was responding to the other guy posting about sorting by region and deleting in mass all the roms lagbelled europe or japan etc, I was just warning how maybe perhaps this would delete multi region roms, better be cxareful before trying this method
-
That explains it! I used standalone Desmume and imported the romd and told launchbox where desmume is, it stuck on the -F there by default nice to have it fixed, needed to play HENRY HATSWORTH PUZZLING ADVENTURE, truly amazing hybrid game
-
YES THANKS! I had exact smae issue to! Just setup desmume, and nothing worked. But I loaded the emulator manually and it worked. This -f is in every asociated platform for some reaosn, I guess most emulators either need it or ignore it? I removed nit and perfect!

Should be easy to reproduce for the dev team, as I have solved it. Tools>manage pl[atforms was givine a hard crash, no error, just BAM all is closed. I explain how I think it caused it and how I fixed, maybe the dev team can reproduce and put some error handling on this isue, it wil happen to some other but not many. Here goes Create a platform, import roms from lets say E:\c64\roms\ and leave them in current location Now, remove e: drive from computer Click on platform c64(not sur eif u need to click on c64 platform but why not go ahead in case) Click tools>manage platforms BAM CRASH as I described. Seems as if a leave in current location does not exist caused it For me to fix it, I made a new E drive., usb stick or whatever, just recreate e:\c64\roms\ so the path at lest exists even if empty nOw I tools>manage platforms works perfectly Since this fixed it for me, I am guesing it should be easy to reproduce. This was on curent version too. If dev team tries this to reproduce and it does not reproduce, that is freat too, many I had other issues mixing.

Deleting platforms not deleting from list, after restart, comes back
