  1. I was thinking of doing "Only fill in missing metadata and images" or however the option is worded.
  2. Ok, thanks for the reply, I have actually decided to reinstall Launchbox from scratch. This time in Dropbox, as it was just on a data drive in my gaming PC. I know you have suggested this before, and I'm just getting around to it now. I think what I will try is to do 2 "passes", first with LB games DB, and then fill in the holes with EmuMovies on pass 2, using " Download metadata and images" option. I'm sorry for being so complicated, I just dont have much experience with front ends, this is my first one. Thanks again.
  3. I have around 9500 (give or take) games imported so far, and I just checked the size of the images folder and it is around 46GB, yes, Gigabytes, in size. Is this normal?? I have done a lot of importing and deleting of games over the past several weeks, trying to organize and such, but yesterday I did the clear images option in Launchbox, which said that it deleted over 13000 images. So the current size doesnt seem right to me. I do not have any videos at all. Thanks Edit: also, another question about this is, do people download media from launchbox games DB AND emumovies? Like front box art from both, etc?
  4. Thank you for the replies, I guess I will have to import all games, like I planned on doing, try each game and if it's unplayable due to language (action games, etc, where you have to know what's going on) then delete it. Also, what I thought Jason meant was to put the whole Launchbox folder in Dropbox and sync it with all your computer's. This would come in handy for working on configuring on my laptop when my wife wants to watch TV (my gaming pc is connected to our tv in the living room. ) But not so sure about launching and playing from Dropbox as all my emulators and settings reside in the launchbox folder. As far as Stream in-home streaming, yeah, I've used it and it worked for a while, but then got VERY laggy. To the point where it was difficult to even quit the game. Probably has to do with our network, but gave up eventually. Thanks for the replies.
  5. Hi, I am still at it- trying to organize my collection. I have a couple questions again. Does anyone know if ALL Japan regioned games are in the japanese language, and likewise for other regions? I would like to have as many games as possible, but have no use for games that I can't understand. If this is the case, I would just not import any games that were from any other regions, but am afraid that I would be missing some games that are from other regions but could display in English. Does that make sense? Is there any way to know what the actual language for a game is? On another note, from what I can tell, Jason Carr recommends to just put the Launchbox folder in Dropbox, which I would love to do, but how would that work with different types of computers? I have my main gaming pc which is capable of playing almost anything, but then I have my laptop, which could only play less demanding games. Would that work? There are some emulators where you can choose your video card, obviously it wouldnt be the same between the two computers. I try to keep most emulators/settings files within the launchbox folder. Thank you.
  6. That sounds awesome, I should set something like that up. Zeromod- Thank you as well for the info!
  7. Hey, been playing around with it for a while tonight and performance seems much better, probably needed to cache, but just noticed that under each platform separately, images appear fine, but when i go under View all games, images don't even try to load. They are all the default "No image" images. Strange.
  8. Haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet, but so far that's the only view I've noticed it in.
  9. May be a dumb question, but how do you switch between programs if you don't see a Windows interface?
  10. I may have just thought of another way to organize collections in Launchbox. If you go through your ROM collection in Windows Explorer (or equivalent) and change the extension of games you DON'T want to import, and then import files (not directories) and search for just the extensions you do want, then in the future if you decide you want a game not imported, all you have to do is change back the extension and reimport. It should just add games not already there. I haven't tested yet, but theoretically it should work. This way you still have all the ROMs together in one place but you don't have to import the ones you don't want. I am going to try this because i couldn't get Launchboxtools to work.
  11. Hi, i also just bought a license the other night, and can confirm that even on the lowest image quality the performance is very sluggish. I'm running on i7-4770K, 8GB memory, and MSI GeForce GTX 780 video card. I haven't actually cycled through all games yet, I'll give that a try. But just wanted to confirm, so far. Oh, and Windows 10 Pro x64
  12. One of the scrapers, system.ini - what system.ini? Also, the hide duplicates interface is completely confusing, I enter Region for the filter, enter any combination of "North America" or "USA" and I still get ALL regions listed in any of the games that show up when testing. I don't see it filtering anything. This is where Im at now, does this look right? If so, what do I do? I want to keep the North American games, and hide the rest.
  13. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/launchboxannotator-tool/page-4 I was just wondering if anyone else came across this problem.
  14. Well, after doing some experimenting, renaming the Launchbox.xml so that Launchbox recreated it on next launch, the same happened. Then I realized that if I click "All" on the left panel under which games to show before exiting Launchbox, it will show all currently imported platforms in Launchboxtools. But I have to actually click "All" before exiting. Dont know if this is just a coincidence or what but it worked the few times I tried. What the heck, I'll start over again with the new xml. Edit: actually i have to exit launchbox, go back in launchbox and then click "All" and then launchboxtools shows all the platforms. Strange, and like I said, could be coincidence, but launchboxtools wont display all imported platforms right away.
  15. Anyone else have issues using Launchboxtools like not listing platforms you have imported? At first I thought it was just the last platform I had imported that wouldn't show, but now come to find out, of about 6 platforms imported so far, only 3 show up. I would like to use this tool but it is litterally unusable at this point. Anyone run into this and have a fix? I am also wondering if there is a way to recreate a "blank" or default launchbox.xml file, I'm thinking maybe the file is messed up from importing and deleting and re-importing games that maybe the file isn't right anymore. Launchboxtools reads the xml file to know which platforms to show, right?
  16. That's OK, i can still use the tool for the ones that show up, and right now it's all but the last one. I can manually change the one. Thanks anyway.
  17. Hi, I dont know what im doing wrong, but the Launchbox tools doesnt list the last platform that I imported. But once I import the next platform, then the previous one that didnt show, shows up. So for instance, if I import Atari 7800, it wont show. But then I import Super Nintendo, then Atari 7800 shows but Super Nintendo wont show, when selecting platforms when I first start up the tool. I have Launchbox NOT running when using the tools.
  18. Alright, thank you.
  19. Hi, I'm still in the process of organizing my collection of No-Intro roms and wondering if they are needing to be audited. What I mean is, I know they are being updated all the time, but what I wanted to make sure of is that the names are correct for one thing. When these sets come out, are they correctly named to a standard? Right now I am not even dealing with arcade, I want to get my console collection finished before I even think about arcade. I've heard that clrmamepro is the best for auditing roms, but I couldnt get it to load more that the first dat file, after that it wouldnt show any more no matter how many I tried to load. I would load another dat file, refresh the list, and absolutely nothing would happen. No more dat files in the list, and no options for creating a profile. I guess for now, if I had to use a program for auditing, would romcenter be good enough for console games?
  20. Awesome, thank you. I think i have a "game" plan now.
  21. Also, one more question: If I wanted to "stack" the games by putting other versions under Additional Apps, what would I do with those versions in the main interface? Would I hide them, or just delete the entry entirely? I've moved my mass of games to Dropbox and am waiting for it to sync, and trying to decide my plan of action. I want the cleanest list of games while still being able to access all versions if needed. Also, I've read that recently, it was added that when you delete a game in LB it also deletes the rom file - is that optional, or does it happen automatically? Thank you again.
  22. Kirsten: Thank you for the reply. I agree, it would probably make more sense to import all games, that way, I can hide the ones I don't want to show, but if I would want them I could still get to them within LaunchBox. As for the BIOS, I think I will either filter them out of the import, if thats possible, or just hide them in LaunchBox. Thank you very much!
  23. So, just to clarify, should I just import ALL games from a No-Intro set, and then use methods to filter or hide the ones I dont want to show up? What I had done is to go through all the files manually in Windows Explorer and take all the files I didn't want and zip archive them so Launchbox didnt even scan them. But it sounds like a better way would be to import them all, and organize afterward. Also, while sort-of on the subject, what do people do with bios files for systems like SNES such as _BIOS DSP2 (WORLD).BIN? Do you just leave it in the folder with the ROMs? I've not played a game which required them yet (I don't think anyway.) Do I import them as well and just hide? Thank you.
  24. Awesome! thats what i was thinking. By the way Awesome work, I love this app!
  25. Hi, ive been using Launchbox for a few months now, and also just switched from stand-alone emulators to Retroarch. My question is, would it make any sense to put my Retroarch folder inside the Launchbox folder, just so i'd only have 1 main folder to keep track of? Im super OCD about where to put things for organization, but at the same time, thats why i can never make up my mind. 'Oh I should put it here for this reason, but because of that maybe I should keep it there, etc.' How do most people organize things? Including ROMs, etc? So confused. Thanks
