  1. Probably I should open two separate threads, but anyway.

I am testing my (full version of) LaunchBox on a slow (but modern) laptop (Win10 x64, 4GB, i3 6006U). Fully updated, also latest VLC and latest CODECs (if it matters).

    Fully downloaded assets from EmuMovies.

BigBox takes several minutes to start, but I won't talk about this, as my collection (for that laptop) is on USB3 disks.

    The problems are different.

    1) Voice recognition is enabled but never worked (microphone is ok and "tuned"). Never ever caught my any "start word".

    2) I only tried Critical Zone, but it seems that big box starts at the last selected platform (which is ok), plays that platform video, but when I switch to another platform, it still plays the previous video and shows previous info like I never switched. I tried both with just moving right or left AND with moving and then pressing enter. Also mouse is enabled but it doesn't "click" the platform...

BTW I not so sure if CriticalZone (and LaunchBox) is properly touch enabled (ok I tried with tablet teamviewer - not the best test)... Scrolling though the lists should be possible by "touch and slide" and this doesn't work either.

    Any ideas?

  2. Would be nice to allow for an intro video. Then again is easily fixed by a batch file.

I know about the changelog, but this is far more detailed than needed, goes per-version and does not present a single comprehensive list of FEATURES (not changes, not bug fixes) and an updated comparison between free and premium etc.

You know, what should be up there on the top menu of the site or at least inside "ABOUT".

I understand LaunchBox is constantly evolving, but exactly this is one of the reasons a comprehensive list is needed for someone that wants to see "what can this thing do" and "why get Premium" (which is now far beyond just having BigBox).

  3. I was looking hard and couldn't find this.

Is there an UPDATED (with every version) complete list of features of LaunchBox (and Premium)?

For example I am at work now, no LaunchBox here and I wonder if there is support for intro videos. Not talking about game intro videos. I am talking about LaunchBox itself intro video and possibly separate intro videos per platform (if user supplies and enables them of course). (if this is not there, would be nice for 7.X)

  4. Thanks. The problem is also the matching I guess.

It may be easy when importing MAME (arcade) games, but using local media to match other games (games for use also in other emulators), this won't work easily.

A scrubber tries to match names and (hopefully) just holds fields in the database to make the match and doesn't (or shouldn't) rename the sources.

For example let say there is a video for miner 2049er for Atari 2600.

MAME front-ends already know to use "mine2049e.mp4" for the PAL version of the game, since this is how the SL ROM is named too.

But if you wanted to use that video in Stella, I don't think you can, while mass importing Atari 2600 games for use in Stella. Possibly only manually per game (which is painful).

  5. I wonder if LaunchBox is able to download videos (while scrubbing) from http://www.progettosnaps.net/index.php and/or use a local source. I understand that someone can add videos manually per game, but wonder if it can look in some local paths (recursively too), while adding games in a collection (progettosnaps except MAME arcade videos, also has an increasing collection of console/computer videos, that can be potentially useful outside MAME).

In case videos are available locally, give the option to use them directly from their original path (not move them in LaunchBox\Videos).

  6. I post this to get some feedback first and possibly make it a feature request.

Most of my emulation stuff (ROMs) are zipped. I think for most people too.

Irrelevant if the emulator supports zipped content or not (for example AFAIK WinUAE doesn't and SCUVMM doesn't).

Some of my stuff is also DOUBLE zipped, because that is how it was distributed (TOSEC content for example, where zipped games are then rezipped per folder, for example "Commodore/C128/Games/[D64]/Commodore C128 - Games - [D64] (TOSEC-v2016-01-10_CM).zip", where "Commodore C128 - Games - [D64] (TOSEC-v2016-01-10_CM).zip" contains individually zipped D64).

Now... I don't want to use any "middle-man" (like RocketLauncher) and I believe LaunchBox can nicely handle these things itself (or should).

So... is it possible (and what do you think) to implement a "pre-processor" to handle ROMs before calling the actual emulator?

This pre-processor would handle zipped (and even double zipped) content both when scrubbing a collection (where the system will detect if a file needs to be extracted) and before calling the actual emulator? Using some temporary location for the extracted content of course and making sure to clean it up later (either directly after using it, or better, after a certain disk usage threshold is reached, so that some elementary caching takes place).

(actually for double zipped content even RocketLauncher cannot help currently)

    Would LOVE that.
