If I remember correctly Launchbox makes backups of the xml files in a backup directory, so you may be able to recover any damaged platform xmls from there.
-
@AntropusYeah had I thought about it a little longer before my original post, I would have just put it in the Lightspeed thread. In my old age my memory gets fuzzy
-
@Jason Carr @Antropus I realized something just a bit ago that may pinpoint this down further. I remember now that after I used Lightspeed to import my arcade collection, I had gotten an error when I started LB up that my gameboy xml file had become corrupt. So I replaced all of the xml files for each platform. But the files I replaced them with came from the backup folder that Lightspeed creates. I went into that folder earlier and looked through the xml file that Lightspeed created on 03-09-17 for my Turbografx 16 platform, using Coryoon - Child of Dragon as my search. Indeed, it does not show any data about additional applications, whereas the LB backup file with the backup date of 02-18-17 does have the correct additional applications data. I can post the xml files that I compared in the morning, if either of you need them.

Thanks @Jason Carr here's my data folder. Data.zip I was able to get them back showing up by replacing the xml files with xml files from the backup folder, so right now all seems good again. It may have been operator error on my part somehow, but maybe you can find something in them. I did peek into the Turbografx xml file and tried to locate the game "Coryoon - Child of Dragon (Japan), along with it's alt version. Found the original Rom, but not any data about the alt version.

Using 7.7, I had successfully consolidated all of my roms to where they would show up with the right click. This worked for several days until I noticed today, that right click is no longer showing any of them. I checked multiple platforms, and all are the same way. To my knowledge, the only thing I have done recently in LB aside from playing games is import in my MAME arcade sets, using the Lightspeed program. Thanks in advance for any input!
-
Lightspeed can import them initially, without having to setup anything arcade-wise in LB beforehand.
-
Ok, backed up and imported the full set per my individual lists. Looks like everything got imported and consolidated as it should. Thanks again Antropus!

Just installed beta6 and about to do what you suggested, but thought of something. I may have done this the hard way, but when I imported my parent sets, I had originally gone and made Rom lists of just the parents before importing. This way my Launchbox would show categories listed like "Arcade - Shmups", "Arcade - Fighting Vs.", etc. Will this mess up just being able to import the clones into their proper groups as I have them currently? I'm thinking since I did it this way I will just have to reimport my whole set.
-
Awesome work with the bug squashing Antropus! I have not tried out beta5 just yet, but had a quick question with the consolidating the clones with the parents. Since I already have all of the parent sets imported, should I just be able to set Lightspeed to import only the clones, and it consolidate them? Or should I go ahead and re-import parents and clones together?

It just got added in 7.7, I think it is in the "Tools" menu. Not at my computer right now but I think it's 'Consolidate XXX"

I really like this suggestion as well. I hope it could be implemented in a future update! I just got done re-sorting all of my MAME games into LB (parents only for now). My first try with it a bit ago, I did it only by company, but this time I did it by genre. Loving the flexibilty Lightspeed gives to making it import MAME games in multiiple ways.

Hi everyone I have been playing around with Retroarch for a while now, and have spent much of my time lately converting over to using it's cores instead of all of my standalone emulators. What I am really enjoying is the use of overlays to give it a little more on the aesthetics side. So I have been working on custom game overlays. I have already made a few overlays on the system level, but figured I could try out doing some for specific games, adding in box art, control layout, and a screenshot. I just wanted to post a couple of pics to hopefully get any opinions on anything I could look at improving. One overlay does have scanlines implemented in, the other does not. Thanks to all!

@sitruz might make sure some of the filters have at least one option checked, I thought I remember that happening to me and I got blank results. I don't recall it blanking my paths out though after doing a reload, though.
-
@The_Keeper86 it did the same to me when I had it set to include all clones, and to give it the full history info for each entry. Not sure if that was the reason, but when I went with just parent sets, it was a lot quicker.

Thanks @Antropus for making such a great tool! Ever since I discovered LB, I have been a bit wary of trying to import my MAME set into it, but finding this made me decide to give it a go.
