  1. Jason thanks so much for fixing the controller bug so incredibly quickly.

This is why I will never hesitate to pull out the wallet for Launchbox software.

Top notch customer care standards and the absolute guarantee that the software will consistently improve, in big ways.

I seriously refresh the play store almost hourly throughout the day, excited at the prospect of an update.

  2. Excellent beginnings for this app. Working great with Galaxy S10.

The only issue I've run into is using the Ipega 9087S controller. When you exit a game back to Launchbox, the d-pad stops working.
Switching the box/list view brings it back to life. Weird but no biggy.

Really looking forward to some type of search or sort function. Scrolling full game sets is a bit tedious.

Really impressed overall though. Launching games is very fast and I've experienced no crashes.

    Thank you very much.

Try this one out. Let me know how it goes.

    RetroFresh Detailed Stretch Video.zip

Absolutely perfect. I really appreciate this. My setup is now complete. That has been bugging me for the longest time. I should have asked sooner.
I look forward to seeing what you create next because this theme is perfection. Clean, elegant and defined with a perfectly arranged and balanced presentation of details and artwork. Bravo.

I thought about it, however, in order to implement it, I would have to change the way the background images work, and I haven't really found a suitable solution.

Would I be able to do it if I didn't use background images? I keep mine as just the simple black and charcoal colours.

I can put together a version that will stretch the video no matter the size, and you can see if you like it better.

I would love that. Thank you.

I wonder if another option could be to shrink the video and text border widths to match that of the video. Then widen the wheel to close the gap.

What is the resolution of your display?

It is 2560x1080 at 21:9 ratio.

I switched my monitor into 16:9 to see if that makes a difference but the video still doesn’t fill that border. My understanding of ratios and resolutions is very limited so this type of thing bamboozles my mind.

  7. Tweaked a few things in the view xaml and got the videos full screen stretched and even added a scanline overlay image to help the appearance of some of the videos which didn't look so pretty in full screen. Made a huge difference and all is dandy now.

Thanks a lot for the help.

  8. Oh I see. Unfortunately I am using the same videos. I don't think there are 16:9 versions of those available. I'm on a 21:9 monitor anyway.
I guess the theme I'm using currently just stretches them to full screen. Maybe I can look at employing some type of overlay image for the sides so that I can use this theme and not have black bars.

  9. I was just experimenting with this. It is almost perfect but not quite there. It's better than my solution in the sense that with this method I also get the additional information on the right-hand side which fades out. That's fantastic.
The problem with this is that the video isn't full screen. It's confined to a centered box. The method I'm using fades the wheel and leaves the video filling the entire screen. But now you have me wanting that box and info on the right to appear and fade out too. I do not have that.
If there is a way for me to edit the view of this cityhunter theme to make the video full screen, I will be very happy.

  10. Thank you for making the effort to help me with this.
I don't think I was being very clear. I've found a solution now but the problem was that I could only remove the game details and box cover from view by unselecting them in options but that then removes them from every active theme.
My main theme for all other platforms is RetroFresh Detailed. I love that theme and I like having the box art and game details displayed. It was only MAME that I wanted those game details and box art hidden from view so that I could have only a full screen background video and a wheel.
I solved my issue by downloading the WheelFadeDemo theme, opening the view file with notepad++ and deleting all lines referencing game details and box art. I now use that theme for MAME and it's exactly what I was after.

    Thank you.

  11. The problem I have is that although many themes will have a suitable view, I can only achieve it by unticking some boxes in options to remove the text and box art. That would work fine except that I only want this view for the MAME platform. I don't want the box art and game details missing from other systems.
The option to have platform specific themes is great but those layout options I need changed are applied across the board. I was hoping there might be a theme which takes care of this.

  12. Hi

Does anyone know of a theme which has a game view that is simply a full screen video with a wheel that will fade out of view?
I just want to use such a theme for MAME with the themed videos. I have tried various themes but all of them have some type of window over the top of the background video for every view I select.

Please help a frustrated old fool.

  13. I'm delighted to report that the switch went very smoothly. Launchbox loaded right off the bat like nothing had changed. Big Box needed some kind of library files which required reinstalling but I just installed right on top of the existing files.
Took just moments and nothing was lost.

    Thanks for the advice.

  14. Thank you. That is awesome news. I really hope you're right.

I know this isn't Launchbox related but do you think that will be the case with other programs too?
I'm not sure what dependent files get copied to the system drive registry even when you install a program onto a different drive.

  15. Hi

I am going to be upgrading my Windows 7 to Windows 10 and was wondering how to most smoothly transition my Launchbox/Bigbox setup.

Windows 10 will be a fresh install on a brand new drive.
Launchbox is not currently installed on the system drive. It is on different drive where intend to keep it. All games and media are also kept off of the system drive.

Will I require a fresh install of Launchbox and if so, which files from my current install will I need to move over into the fresh install of Launchbox?

    Thank you.

  16. A few weeks back I spent ages adding something like 60 wiiware titles to the database which were mostly rejected on the basis that apparently wiiware is being deleted as a platform.
I just noticed that one of the recent database updates has added them and almost all of the ones I added were eventually accepted. Is the wiiware platform being deleted from the database?

  17. The issue seems likely to be associated with the ram. Big Box is using approx 6x more ram than launchbox. I have 24gb ram in the system but certain games in cemu must need practically all of it. If I could knock back the ram usage in big box, that might do the trick.

In the guide above I see the thing about system ram cache but I can't find that option.

  18. Big Box runs pretty well overall for me but the problem I am having is with launching games in cemu which are demanding on the system. A couple of Wii U games in cemu take a hell of a lot of power and it seems that big box is consuming too many resources to allow them both to run. They will run fine out of launchbox desktop though. I don't know if Big Box already does this to some extent but it would be nice if it could knock itself down to some kind of bare bones form temporarily while an emulator is running. If that makes sense.

    Any suggestions?
