  1. I'm going to build a htpc for streaming movies, aaa gaming and emulation. I want it to play aaa titles and emulators at  1080p. Needs to handle ps2, Wii U, 3ds emulation and be able to upgrade in the future as emulation evolves. I'm thinking the i5 7600k cpu, asrock z270m pro4 motherboard, gtx 1050 ti gpu, and start with 8gb of ram. What does everyone think? Also need recommendations on ram. Not sure if I should go with the ddr4 2400 or something faster? Any help is appreciated!

Have you renamed the platform at all since you imported? Also if you go to Tools/Manage Platforms and double click your Game Boy Color platform, then click the folders tab there are they all pointing to the correct location?

Haven't renamed it. Had already checked if it pointed to the correct folder and it was. I just finished deleting the gameboy color platform, and all the images, and imported everything again and downloaded the images from the net to see if that would work and it did not. Starting from scratch it does the same thing. I'm out of ideas. Thinking about deleting and reinstalling launchbox entirely.

In the top right of launchbox is a image type dropdown, is that on the correct image type?

It's correct. Changing it doesn't help. What is strange is that where the game image should be it just has the name of the game. If I click on it the background image for that game comes up in the background but none of the other images will display where the game should be.

If you go to your Launchbox/Images/Game Boy Color folder are there images in there?

Yes. First thing I checked. When I go in to  edit per game the images show up in the bottom right of the edit screen as well. I also made sure the image file had the same name as each game but that isn't the issue either.

  5. When I import games for Gameboy Color each game is totally blank. Doesn't even have the launchbox logo that it should have if no images were downloaded. I can hover the mouse over the area it should be and highlight it, and then I can right or left click as usual and start or edit that game but it has no image there at all. Have selected and edited individual games and even if they have images downloaded nothing shows up. I have even tried deleting the entire gameboy color platform, and did it over importing all games and it is the same. All of the games import, but are completely blank.

  6. So I finally got it to work last night. Installed the newest .net framework and that didn't help. I ended up moving my ps1 game files from the games folder in launch box to the games folder I created in epsxe and it worked. Thanks to everyone for the help and info. I have a new GPD Win coming Monday and hopefully this setup will work well on it as well.

@hoosier1, did the Windows 10 Creator's Update just install for you recently by chance? I ask because a few people have been seeing issues with DirectX in the creator's update. Outside of that unfortunately I don't really have any other ideas other than to make sure that your video drivers are all the way up to date. You might also want to download and install DirectX 9.0c from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429

I'm unsure of how LaunchBox or Big Box would ever interfere with an emulator; this is the first time I've ever heard of that happening, so I would think it has to be a driver issue of some sort, or some kind of weird issue with DirectX or maybe even the .NET Framework 4.6.2. You could also try reinstalling the .NET Framework if you're on an OS that isn't Windows 10.

It is windows 10. I will try updating drivers and the directx install and see how it goes. Thanks guys!

  8. I tried default video plugins and loaded a game directly through epsxe and it loaded and looked really good. Tried loading through launchbox and it actually went through the playstation intro and got to the playstation trademark and froze. I don't understand why it would freeze when being launched from launchbox but not when I launch the emulator directly.

  9. I agree lordmonkus. That's what I thought as well. I have checked associated platforms and file paths and cant find a problem. Here is what I have. I'm playing around a little with the video plugins still, but these setting seem to work pretty well.

  10. I would think if it were bad disk images or cue sheets they wouldn't run in the emulator outside of launchbox but they do. The games I have tried will load and play if I open epsxe or retroarch myself. I'm trying different bios but it hasn't helped either. I'm thinking maybe the extra stress on the system from running both launchbox and epsxe at the same time is causing it to freeze? I wouldn't think so but don't know what else it could be. I would have thought a I7 2.4 ghz with 8 gb ram would handle this even if it has integrated graphics.

  11. I have been trying to get ps1 working through launchbox. When I try to open a game to play I get a black screen. I have tried epsxe and the mednafen psx core through retroarch and neither will work through launchbox. I can open either emulator out of launchbox and they both work fine. I have several other systems setup on launchbox that work well. Have the Scph5500.bin, Scph5501.bin, and Scph5502.bin bios files in both emulator system folders, and have lauchbox directed to the .cue files of the games in their current location where the .bin file is as well. Please help!
