Is the error a red message box with japanese on it? If so, press the button you mapped to Test - the first button on the list. Not so sure of the wheel axis but press either a or d, or if you want arrows, left or right. Hope this works

Steering wheels aren't needed. Go to game settings and at the top there shouldbe key bindings. Click on that and you can bind your keyboard or controller.

I know how to fix that problem. On the Teknoparrot wiki page for mario kart, there is a known problems catagory. There are two links that you need to install under the direct3d error subheading. If you get an error installing one of them, that is completely fine. Hopefully this helps, and hopefully you can play

Could I get some help with this? My copy of Mario Kart does this EVERY time, and I have tried everything. I am running on a Win 7 x86 laptop, with Intel Centrino (according to the sticker, it is a second hand laptop so I am not that sure). Interestingly, a video of this running on youtube has extra lines in the ParrotLoader.exe, referring to reading activation keys and the registry, but everywhere I look I can't find a way to register ParrotLoader into the registry (unless that was just for patreons). Any help is useful help, thanks in advance!
