Uniqueness defined by one-game+one-system is simply errant. The devs need to decide on something different, it's as simple as that IMHO. That said, I would suggest keep title only as far as editing is concerned, but leave the backend to clarifying things. If a conflict's uniqueness can be clarified by year only, have the titles return with year in them automatically. If that results in duplicates still, include manufacturer. Year is how it's done in say, IMDB, and I'd go as far as saying is typically the first thing a user would expect.
