  1. Thank you for your response. I tried your suggestions, but unfortunately I'm no closer to a solution. I did uncheck the "Attempt to hide console window". "Hide All Windows that are not in Exclusive Fullscreen Mode" was already unchecked, so I disabled the Startup Screens.

Now when I launch a table, I get a "Loading Game" dialog on top of the Bigbox screen, and the table still loads behind everything and I can't alt-tab to it.

Just as above, this behavior is inconsistent. Sometimes the table appears on top and the DMD is behind. In that case I can alt-tab to get the DMD on top. When the DMD is on top, the table is behind and I can't alt-tab to it.

  2. Playing whack-a-mole with Visual Pinball issues and pulling my hair out. My _current_ issue is that when I launch a table, especially from bigbox, The stacking order of windows is unpredictable. Sometimes the DMD is on top of the table as it should be. Sometimes it's behind the table and I have to alt-tab to bring it forward like below:

The bigger problem though, is when the table is behind bigbox and I can't bring it forward, like in this video:

These issues seem to go away if I run Visual Pinball as administrator, but that opens up a bunch of other issues (like having to run BigBox as admin so it can launch Visual Pinball).

Is there any way to make the windows display in the right stacking order?

BigBox uses the same command line parameters as LaunchBox does.  So they should be launching equally the same, in both.  The only troubleshooting I can think of is:

In BigBox, confirm that other games from different platforms that are also located on the NAS, work.

Make sure you're launching BigBox.exe from the same folder you're launching LaunchBox.exe (say if you have multiple installs for testing).

Test the same table as you had success with in LaunchBox.

Be sure to be in the same platform you tested in with LaunchBox.  (maybe you were originally doing tests in "VPX" platform, and your final one is in "Visual Pinball X" platform).

Thanks for the reply. All other games on the NAS work, this is how I've had BigBox setup for years. I only have oneinstall of Launchbox/BigBox, so I am sure they are using the same settings. I only have 1 platform for Visual Pinball. I tried enabling debug logging but unfortunately BigBox doesn't log the game launch command, which seems like it would be really useful to add.

  4. I am setting up Visual Pinball in Launchbox. I have about 20 tables imported. All tables work when launched outside of Launchbox. They also work when launched inside of Launchbox. However, when I start BigBox and try to launch a game I get "The ROM file you've specified does not exist."

Some additional context: I first started setting everything up with Visual Pinball in the emulators directory, and all the table in the "Visual Pinball\Tables" directory for testing. I have since moved the tables to my NAS, where all of my games live. When the Tables were on the local machine BigBox was able to launch them. When I moved them to the NAS I deleted the games from Launchbox and re-imported them from the new location. Everything seemed fine since they were launching from Launchbox. Then when I opened BigBox I got the above error.

How can I troubleshoot the path BigBox is looking for the ROMS is, and why would Launchbox and BigBox behave differently?

  5. In MAME I have a game that, before launching asks what BIOS to use (see screenshot). Only 1 bios seems to work properly and, of course, it's not the bios Launchbox is choosing (I get no prompt to select bios when launching in Launchbox).

What can I do to tell Launchbox which bios to use?

  6. Hello! I am trying to setup a "Future Pinball" platform. I have the games added and they launch fine, now I'm trying to theme it in BigBox. I tried adding a "Future Pinball.png" to <LaunchBox>\Images\Platforms\Future Pinball\Clear Logo but I still get the text "Future Pinball" instead of the logo. What am I doing wrong?

  7. Ok, so first off, let me say that I bought the forever updates license. I love LaunchBox/BigBox and believe in supporting the devs! But here is what I don't understand:

LaunchBox is free. When new versions come out you can download and install it, even without any license. So, what is the difference between the $20 and $50 license?

  8. Hello! I am setting up ledblinky for my arcade and noticed an annoyance that I'm hoping can be dealt with. So, I have ledblinky working great from my Hyperspin setup.

The issue is when you fast scrolls through a bunch of games and finally land on one, the leds will be cycling through all the light configurations for every game you scrolled through, and takes a while to finally "land" on the game you are looking at.

In HyperSpin, when you are scrolling, the leds would just go white and wait for you to land. Then when you stop on a game, it lights just for that game.

Don't know if that's possible in the current BigBox, if not consider this a feature request :)

  9. Hello! I am new to launchbox, but LOVING IT. I'm coming from Hyperspin and trying to get everything the way I want it. I'm almost there, but have a question on the game list. I have seen in people's demo videos that you can use artwork for the game list (like in hyperspin). My games lists all use plain text. How to I setup big box to show the artwork game title instead of the plain text game title? If it's a matter of downloading the images, can I use the existing images I have in my Hyperspin folder?

    Thanks!
