kastore
Hi all, I've been working for days trying to get my Turbografx 16 CD emulation / PCE CD working and I'm just stumped on this game, and I've tried multiple releases. I've tried both RetroArch and PCEjin and have been unsuccessful; I've scoured the web for multiple BIOS and it doesnt seem to be working. When I start the game, I get an error about only works on super cdrom2, but that's what my BIOS is I'm pretty sure. Other Turbografx 16 CD games all work so I'm not sure if it's the BIOS or something else. I do not believe it's the CD rip of the game as I've tried a bunch of different ones and also are using know "good" quantities including No-intro and GoodPCE, [redacted], etc. A couple questions/data points that might be helpful for those who read this post and potentially can help: The game in particular I'm trying to get working is Might and Magic 3 Isles of Terra for Super CDROM2 Tried PCEjin & RetroArch, have bios files in system folder and games folder, updated the .info files (e.g. added bin, cue, etc), updated the Manage Emulators info in Launchbo. My gut tells me it's something different than invalid BIOS as I've used tons of examples, including some from No-intro which are supposedly more reliable Would really appreciate any help thanks! Quick update: Screenshots below show what's happening, BIOS seems to load now but I get a warning that its not the right CD?
SentaiBrad
Huh, mine just started up. I don't recall If I have a No-Intro, Redump or TOSEC set for PC Engine CD, I forgot. The syscard3.pce I am using is 384kb, it's a patched BIOS if I recall. It's hard to figure out whats what out there since so much is mislabeled. What the emulator is telling you is that you don't have the proper bios actually. I went through about 15 different BIOS too, which sucks. Various sizes and labels. Thanks a lot SentaiBrad, I went further down the BIOS rabbit hole and finally found a working one and got it working! I thought I had gone deep enough but thanks for mentioning 15+ otherwise I wouldn't have tried more!
SentaiBrad
Yea, it's a bit ridiculous. A lot of emulation issues can be solved by a different BIOS or a different rip of the game. So much is mislabeled or ripped poorly.
