utopicide
Hi all, I just entered a feature request at https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/2929/feature-request-post-import-game-app but I wonder if maybe the feature is already there and I'm just missing it. Is it possible to run the "combine ROMs" function (i.e., mass-create games from combinations of ROMs, based on common filename prefix) outside of the ROM Import wizard, against a set of ROMs that already exists in LaunchBox, such that the set's game/app composition is refreshed to conform to changes in the underlying ROM files? Put another way: can I add, remove, or rename ROMs in a platform folder, and then re-run the "combine ROMs" function, without having to delete and re-import them? If it's a breach of etiquette to bring up the same topic in both the issue tracker and the forum, let me know and I won't do it again. I try to test out my ideas fairly thoroughly, but sometimes still suspect that I'm missing some key feature that's already there. Much respect, all! SentaiBrad
Yes, you can do this. Ctrl Click the entries you want (Ctrl Click a game, then Ctrl + Shift Clicking a game on the end will highlight everything from the first click to the last click). From there, right click the games and select "Combine". You can also right click a combined game and expand it.
utopicide
Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated! When I use the "Combine ROMs" option in the Import ROMs wizard, LaunchBox automatically figures out the groupings based on filename, without me having to explicitly select them. (It treats everything before the first parenthesis/square bracket as the game name, and the rest as the "additional app" version designation, combining ROMs that share the former into a single game.) So, if I have 3500 ROMs representing 1000 games, I can create all 1000 games automatically (based on filename) by running the Import ROMs wizard one time. But, if I want to combine those 3500 ROMs into 1000 games after the games have already been imported, I'd have to perform the multi-select->right-click->select "Combine"->choose root ROM sequence 1000 times. Am I missing something?
SentaiBrad
No that's correct. Anything in brackets is ignored for when determining a games name, but it's used for identification of various things. So when a game, in that system, has the same name but different stuff in the brackets, it will automatically be combined. It's assuming "Disc 1", "Disc 2", or even "Rev A", "Rev B" type situations. You can also uncheck the box to not have it automatically combine if you don't want.
utopicide
Ah HA! Actually, the behavior I'm getting is that right-clicking some games and choosing "Combine" prompts you to select a root game. HOWEVER, choosing "Consolidate ROMs for <Platform>" from the Tools menu does, indeed, seem to offer the function I'm looking for. Thank you! Your feedback solved my problem--WOOOOOOO!!
