Image folder size and cache questions

Hey Folks,

Hoping for some understanding.

1) When I check the size of my image folder, it states the size is 86 gigs but the size on disk is 546 gigs. Can someone explain why they are so significantly different? Is that normal (5X the size)? Is there a way to reduce it?

2) What happens if I delete the contents of my cache folder (in my image folder)? Pros? Cons?
